People weren't kidding when they said it was inferior to the original. It started off promising and there were many interesting threads being set up, but the payoff, if there was any, was a complete letdown. Unnecessarily bloated and convoluted. What a mess. The plastic surgery "twist" for Kagari/Yuki really pissed me off. Good thing that was the last route I finished. I was waiting for a pivotal moment where Daru and Yuki finally bonded, but that's out the window.
There was so many cool ways they could have gone with the story. One example is the whole arc with Okabe not being able to get over Kurisu's death. I was expecting multiple failure routes where he ends up falling in love with Maho, Amadeus, or Kagari and never contributes to his other self reaching Stein's Gate for the sake of Kurisu. For Kagari, maybe have them be the biological parents of future war-orphan Kagari? I think the timeline works. Could be a tragic story of a girl that exists only in a time loop.
Just a lot of under-utilized new characters and plot ideas. What the VN was really missing is an actual middle and end.

One of the worst parts is that Okabe never tells Kurisu that he was the one who killed her when he returned to the Alpha worldline, we could have had a great scene seeing how Kurisu reacts to it and seeing her forgive him, leading into Kyouma's reawakening. At least how Okabe gets the idea for Operation Skuld was good with him being deceived into his own survival in 2036. Shame we never see the journey back to 2011. That could have been a VN on its own. The Vega and Altair route was still more disappointing compared to Promised Rinascimento, I'd like to have that be the canon route instead.

Do you guys consider Fate/Extella a VN? For those who've played it, what do you guys think of the first game?
Here are my thoughts on the first one.
>Story is waifu wars that then turns into the power of love against a force of nature. Chuuni/10. The characters themselves are pretty likable though.
>Combat is mediocre. Nero breaks the game, Tomamo is unplayable until she gets ice barrage, and Altera is decent until she gets homing cubes which breaks the game. Some characters like Jeanne are also unplayable. The key to winning is to use the skill that makes it so every kill increases your strength. Once you have a high enough attack you can OHKO normal enemies with 1 full screen attack. Once you can do this no map is a challenge.
>Most boss fights are very easy and they re-use a boss 3 times without any variety which is pretty damn lazy.
>AI allies are useless and you can't even do anything with them.
>Soundtrack is pretty good at times though most of it is forgettable.
>Best girl is Elizabeth Bathory. While the game does have a harem true ending, it still lacks best girl.
Would I play it again? Definitely not. Gameplay needs a huge upgrade before I do that but I can say I enjoyed it. I might play the second one when it comes out overseas if the combat is better. If I would recommend it to anyone, I would say it's for people who want a silly story about waifu wars with some simple gameplay on the side. Also good for people who have a giantess fetish. You won't be challenged unless you play hard mode and hard mode becomes a joke as soon as you get your full moveset.

Very basic, almost a chore. Best strategy is to equip Collector+20 and then just do one-hit Extella Maneuvers, since it does lots of damage, stops time, keeps anyone from hitting you and will likely drop EM bar replenishment items. No reason to use anything else, really.
That said, Nero is pretty strong otherwise, too. Tamamo is actually quite good, as long as you just use two of her moves: the sprint kick which has decent AoE(but this is true for ALL Servants), and her stationary "flamethrower" which absolutely rapes most enemies. The only character I can say for real is fun to play is Cu Chulainn; all of his moves have a different use, they're quick and when they lock you into an animation its usually worth it(the SANIC-speed barrage doesn't give i-frames, so it can get you hit but it's pretty rare, while his last combo where he Gae Bolgs a fucker through the roof is so strong that it's just worth it. And you can juggle bosses with it, keeping them utterly useless).
Bosses are a chore if you can't stun or juggle them on harder difficulties. Soundtrack is forgettable and has nothing on Fate/Extra.
AI allies are interesting, in that they seem to level up. As in, at first Nameless is useless, but then as you play his side-story and level him up, he can suddenly start killing other Servants by himself. At one point on a side-story with a level one character, I just kited the boss Servant to Nameless and he just cleaned house for me.
Only play it if you're a Fatefag who knows it's something he really wants.

Yeah that works too but that move in general was very OP. I wish more Musou games would use the control scheme of Sengoku Basara or Senran Kagura Deep Crimson as they allow more freedom when it comes to attack paths.

That's very old Bishop. Even since Ura Kyoushi (UK) it has mainly been a "twisted love" sort of deal where the "corruption" is more about bringing the girls/women to blossom into the sluts they really are. It's hentai logic-teir and not grim at all where the "no" means "yes". Sansha Mendan (SM) is probably the best example of this, hence the pic I posted. The "slaves" sometimes are taken just as wives outright with marriage (Mesu Kyoushi 4 the protag marries them in their endings) or they get treated as pet wives like in UK (just don't do the redhead's route it's for cucks).
tl;dr Bishop games since UK have gotten less about "corruption" and more about "bringing your girl of choice to bloom as your personal waifu-slavefu". SM is in English too thanks to Quof.

Lune? They straddle the line between vanilla and rape. Their latest game has the protagonist hypnotizing royalty and an entire kingdom with the power of a masir egg so he can degrade and rape them but if you choose to be a cool guy you can be nice to them in the second half of the game and get one of their good endings or just go for the good harem ending where everyone is happy, and brown girl has the best good ending narrative-wise.
You also have the other hypnotism games, best one being the second Kyonyuu Saimin one where you get moral choices about what to do with the girls which effects the ending(s) you get. As far as story goes, Lune is the tops - especially since it doesn't cuck you like an Alice Soft title.

Plenty of them have nice plots or fun characters that don't rely on waifu-bait to carry them. It's just that I find myself playing moege more often because they're very relaxing. I usually go for manga if I want something with a thick plot but there are plenty of VNs that have that too. Umineko is a series well known for it even if people found the later parts to be very lackluster. The Ace Attorney games are a good example too.

You can find these in the Visual Novel Starter Kit in the OP. It's a prequel so it's a foregone conclusion that he wins. Akagi's mostly about interesting villains and ridiculously stakes MahJong, it got really boring during its final arc since not only did it take like ten years to finish, but the final encounter ended up being hundreds of times more interesting than all the other characters of FKMT's combined, save maybe for Kurosawa.
Also he actually loses his most important game but since the old man basically dies twice in a row during the match he's declared victor. It's more about being an autist about his passion than winning and a lot about impressive ways to cheat and get into the opponent's head.
By comparison, Kaiji is about a loser who zigzags his way into winning. Having him lose at the end of the first season/the most important arc was very unexpected.

You're completely right, it's not grimdark at all and the "corruption" is really just teaching the girls to enjoy sex and be honest with themselves. Maybe the Honey Select general at /hgg/ has more info. Also, their pastebins and disagreement got neutered so (re)installation's a bitch on my end. This is also counting that the translation was done by Sekai Project so it's already going to be below average or worse. The first Fruit of Grisaea will be their only good translation because it was a fantranslation made "official".

I have a bunch of NISA stuff but not on Fakku so I wouldn't know where to find the sources on many of those. The Honey Select one I know was a screenshot of their chat on Disgord. The artist ban can even be seen on Sad Panda as most of their works have been removed. The translations for titles being changed is very well known. The lack of loli can easily be seen if you browse their site (I also have a large archive of everything they uploaded 2 years ago and I saw no loli) and they don't even have a tag for it. As for the vanilla statement, I've read plenty of the things they've uploaded and found myself pretty bored. It's not vanilla in a heart warming kind of way but vanilla as in what you would see in the average 3D porn for normalfags.
