It is pretty much like Dragon's Crown.
Seems like an ok budget game, nothing special. Graphics are nice, animation looks very rough, gameplay so far looks simple but seems like it could be fun. Seems like the game consist in beaten dungeons similarly to Dragon's Crown, but it also has elements of exploring the Magic School, doing quest and speaking with the characters. For what I have read so far, seems like it does a good job at encapsulating the feeling of the show, but cannot say for sure. I took a look at the metacritic score out of curiosity. So far it seems rather low (62) but then again, fucking God of Cuck sits right there with a 95, so fuck game journalist. I will probably pirate it and try it out first at least, I rather enjoyed the anime despite all its flaws.

Is hard to say. The series has a lot of flaws. At times it feels like it doesn't know if it wants each episode to be self contained story or if it wants to follow a single plot. The series has these strange tonal shift from cute and silly to serious and emotional. Some characters are almost completely ignored and need more development, while others hog all the attention. Some moments fall flat while others are brilliant. The animation is excellent through. But the strange thing is that I adore the series despite it all. The characters are lovable, the morals while simple are quite touching, the action is pretty exciting and well done, the main character development, although a bit slow, is pretty satisfying in my opinion and the setting, while kind of let unexplored, is very fun and make you wish for more. Although it sounds silly to say it this way, the series is kind of like the protagonist Akko. It mumbles and fuck up a lot, but in the end you have to love it for how sincere and how much hearth it has. At least I see it that way. Basically a 6/10 anime if i had to try and be objective, but with lots of charm and hearth, which makes me like it a lot.

Yet then again, there are a couple of moments, like when Hanna and Barbara are bathing together, that are kind of risque. Not ecchi fan pandering risque, but still. I was able to learn conversational Japanese in college but I would have been able to learn a lot more if I lived with someone willing to chat in Japanese at any time.

The main issue was the shift from its relaxed episodic nature (first half) to the long, serious plotline (second half). I really enjoyed the first half and the show would have been a personal favourite of mine if it had stayed like that through the entire show but alas. I thought the 30% distribution fee was pretty much standard across the industry, with Sony and Microsoft taking an additional 10% cut for Royalties. If you track prices between Steam and PSN (at least), there's a general pattern of PSN games being a few bucks more expensive than the Steam version - with the only time pricing reaching parity is if you subscribe to PS-. Essentially, forcing you to pay up in order to get the full sale price set by the publisher.
I don't think Steam charges a royalty, since they don't own or control the platform, and publishers usually just keep pricing parity and then absorb the extra revenue.

There's a few things more I could criticize, though it might just be personal taste. I don't like how "arena"-heavy the game is - with long periods between heavy action where only one or two enemies attack as you travel down long hallways, interspersed with mini-arenas where only a few enemies attack in waves. Each stage seems to have at least one "major" arena where multiple consecutive waves of diverse enemies attack you and force you switch up your tactics.
Comparing it to a game like Armageddon for the PSX which a lot of people thought was shit, but I found fun which has a steady stream of enemies coming at you with pretty much every step you advance, providing a nice "background difficulty" that ramps up as you progress and which is occasionally punctuated by larger and stronger waves. Both games have infinite ammo for their weak-baseline gun, but Armageddon's aim and fire buttons were combined - whereas Ruiners forces you to hold down a dedicated fire button separate from aiming. It allows you to conserve ammo on power weapons more effectively, but weapons drop with enough frequency that I think it could have well gotten away with just streamlining the two into automatic fire and made weapon/ammo pickups automatic.
I'm also not really finding much of a use for the multi-dash, since it only slows time rather than pausing it, it's faster and more effective for me to just dash manually - at least at this point in the game (about half-way through). And that's a core mechanic which is basically throwaway so far.

What the fuck is the deal with these stats, Int boosts total MP and Attack and Strength just boosts Attack, Luck and Agility have the same kinda deal with the crit and evasion shit. What kind of people are those? You're waiting for nothing. You should have checked their release dates at least to clue you in: They're not canon and serve as glorified pilot episodes. Many important character attributes and setting changes were made before the series went into production.
To put it bluntly, the first OVA is great, the second not so much. The second was overall quite disappointing and a bit awkward. It more or less caused the writers to rethink a lot of things. The first had the advantage of a higher budget but the second was used to test things that would be seen in the series.
Just watch them already and then keep in mind a lot of important details and attributes changed. The series is easily better on its own merits. Way more thought went into the series after the second one was a borderline awkward mess.

strenght just increases the damage/attack faster than int but only attack, so int is just raising mp and attack but is the only way to increase mp which is important for akko and other low mp characters, but you need to raise a bit of vit first. crit chance increases damage when you actually crit and i think crit evasion just reduces damage but defense doesn't look like it does much but you get a lot of hp about of vit. i can't believe you're this fuggen dumb but if you thinkgen about it, if it increases multiple stats, it probably doesn't increase it as well (try adding points into one stat and see how it compares)
although magic kind of sucks
