I wish wow just ended up being a good game and just evolved into something better past WOTLK, Like make classes upgrade themselves into something a bit more complicated. Like Warriors + Orcs becoming blade masters and creating illusions like in warcraft 3.
Or Frost mages + undeads becoming liches, or Druid + elves becoming centaurs and expanding how your class develops depending on your race and class.

Problem is that overall populations and their IQ are on a steady decline due to people being niggers. You can't complexify things that people can't even remotely fathom. And even then if hero specializations were a thing it'd undermine the ability to start from 55 like in Wrath. What if they thought that made them more money? Letting people play legacy would mean no addon sales for the new expansion from those switching from retail to legacy. Rather take the extra sales to boost the quarterly report than the money from people who might return for classic.
Imo creating legacy servers themself is just a sign of the decline. It's not cause they changed opinion about the past decision. It's cause they think the live version is dead in the water either way so creating legacy can't make a dent and thus it's adding profit now.
