Shadow Warrior 1 was alright, but I got it for free, so I didn't evaluate it too critically. Fun enough to keep me playing through to the end, at least, which is more than I can say most shit companies throw out as free samples. If you like sucking dick and paying for games, it's a good $20 value.

First one was very enjoyable. The sword and magic mechanics were pulled off very well for that type of shooter.

Second one was bland as hell, with a few good gameplay moments. They tried to do this 'procedural level generation' thing, which means level design is a horrid mess/nonexistent. It's not worth replaying, so the proc-gen adds nothing. Haven't tried co-op. The revolver is really nice.

I like both of the games for different reasons. They are both fun AMD have some pretty fucking edgy racist humor and fun combat. They are worth your money. I find the second less inspired than the first but it's still fun.

The first remake is pretty fun, good gunplay and story, and you get a cool sword and ancient nip powers.

The sequel however is a half-baked clone of borderlands 2 with an utterly retarded upgrade system and skill tree. You find relics that give incremental mmo tier bonuses like 3.7 damage or 8% crit, and they drop like candy so have fun sorting through hundreds of them to get that extra 0.1 damage.

Enemies are also now spongey as fuck have elemental weaknesses/resistances so you can also look forward to pausing in the middle of fights to swap out elemental relics. Weapons are horribly balanced, smgs, rifles, special weapons, and rocket launchers of all things tickle your enemies even with a good set up while shotguns, pistols, and melee are the only things that are viable. The melee would still be a lot of fun but you can look forward to loads of fetch quests and backtracking for most of the game. Not even worth pirating, stay far away.

Does anyone know if DESYNC is any good? Most first-person shooters always seem to get talked about a little, but I've never heard anyone talk about this one even though it does look pretty cool.

Best deal there is Downwell. It's already a steal at its normal price of $3, I think its launch price was either $10 or $15.

The entirety of the Oddworld series is also currently on sale, and Abe's Oddysee is free again if you don't already own it or would prefer the PC version over the PS1 version.

I only played the first. It's a good game, though nothing spectacular. The main issues it has is that the guns feel a little underpowered and there's little enemy variety and the boss fights boil down to pointing the weapon at them and just shooting. Playing on higher difficulties pretty much requires you to make your build around the sword, which you will need to use most of the time since all the guns become peashooters. Thankfully the sword is fun to use and likely one of the best implementation of melee weapons in the FPS genre.

Also, they toned down Lo Wang, though it works out well enough since he's still a likeable character, though not a caricature like his original or Duke Nukem. The narrative in the game is also surprisingly decent, with well written dialogue and decent VA.

So long as you don't go in expecting the same level of interactivity, challenge and quality of level design of the original Shadow Warrior is a perfectly serviceable shooter.

First one, yes. It's arguably the only good FPS solo of the decade.

Second one they went for a borderland approach to game design, which is a divisive subject, the combat that made the 1 good is still there but you have the scaling enemies and guns and the same faults as any procedural-like FPS always have (messy level design, weapon I like is getting underpowered, etc…).
