But the problem with tech demonstration; even big companies make tech demos and you NEVER EVER see the tech implemented in a complete game that's worth playing.
Here's an example of dynamic tessellation used to morph this alien model, even shooting it and changing the mesh to showing damage down to a skeletal level. It's fucking amazing, yet 8 years later and we still never saw anything like this actually put into a fucking video game.
Tech demos are a depressing look into what is possible yet never implemented.

It was about perspective and portals. So you need to cross a gap thirty feet across but only have a three foot long block. You place it next to the portal and at an angle on the other side, you pick it up and now its big enough to cross that gap. Achron is an RTS where the player can view the map and give orders to their units at different points in the timeline. Things get more complicated when you start bringing deliberate Grandfather paradoxes in as a strategy and phrases like "causally independent units" start getting thrown around.
Now consider that Achron is multiplayer.

Proper and aesthetically pleasing animation of character is huge part of the immersion. Why don't represent character as flying ball? Thing is with all talk about progress and increased number of polygons character animations stalled in the development for decade. Face animations and overall fidelity made huge leap with all AAA focus on cinematic experience. Communication between borders is a good thing, global government is bad.

What global communication does is accelerate the process of understanding, and through that it accelerates the cycle of order and chaos, so that both have less negative impact on the daily lives of people. What happens now is that tyrants get ousted 50 years early, which means that a tyrant's life is constantly under pressure from all sides.
It's both a good thing and only minorly annoying to deal with. The change itself isn't bad and doesn't lead into shit like globalization of government on it's own and in fact makes most resistant to the process if it doesn't make it outright impossible since propaganda now has a very low influence due to so much else being available for use.
No matter what is done there's a demand for information, and it cannot be quelled, no matter how they try to censor. We're living in the age of butthurt, fractured ass and salt because of this, and it is glorious.

they actually had builds that showcase the animations and physics, but the most recent one is the "we moved everything from blueprint to c++" build. (blueprint is great for quickly putting stuff together in unreal, but c++ ist better if the scope increases, so this might have actually been the right move for the game)
this led to a massive backlash, when they released this build, because all the nice stuff from previous builds wasnt in it.
The animations are really good and they even have muscles for the characters so the animations that were in the builds looked very good.
For the new build they decided not to show off the good stuff they have, but the shitty stuff as an early showcase for the overambitious game they want to make this into.
They would probably be better off with no combat and some dialogue between having the characters get railed.
It also seems like they really want to include furry and nigger stuff in the game.
