Why is crafting a thing now and how does this add to anything? From the sounds of it, it seems like game relies less on the player actually being good to get rewards, and relies more on them having to look under every rock just so that they can beat anything. This description of gameplay is beginning to remind me of the area in gaming that series like Monster Hunter specialize in, but then that also brings up the question of why the game has puzzles and a story. And, on top of that, Monster Hunter, and other games in it's genre, still require the player to get good. Also, again, previous hack and slash games NEVER experienced this problem, so why was it added?

You've shown numerous arenas that are empty, flat, and could have been done on the Dreamcast. Need look no further than Spartan: Total Warrior and Halo 2 and Far Cry and Metroid Prime and numerous Star Wars games, and so on. And, do we also need to bring up Xenoblade Chronicles? Even the claim about "finer details" becomes hollow when you've had games like Monster Hunter (Again) and Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus.

You cannot play a third of the game, you have mechanics and levels that have not relation to one another being mashed together for no other reason than to appeal to as wide a demographic as possible (Meanwhile, also alienating all of the original GoW fans), and you have graphics that have much of their lust and splendor lost because we've been see the same capabilities possible for over a decade now. And, given how EVERYONE AND THEIR PET is giving this game 10/10, people should be running around screaming over how low the standards in gaming have become that they're praising a complete and utter mess.

God of War doesn't deserve this. NOTHING in gaming deserves THIS. Why is this being allowed to happen?

What about the fact that Loki is your son yet the World Serpent already exists? Try to draw the timeline of the mythos considering that, in theory, you start Ragnarok at the end of the game and everything that involves while Loki is a child still. They shoe-horned Kratos and his new family story into the Norse Mythology by taking over a central figure without any care for what the consequences of said action would have in terms of consistency.

After playing through this, I gotta say it isn't bad but it sure as hell isn't a God Of War game. It feels like a Darksider game without jumping and platforming.

It's not a 10/10 though, more like 7/10 with points taken away for the combat being mediocre and the story being not even half as epic as the previous titles.

They set out to have a unique weapon so that he wouldn't be "just another faggot swinging a sword".

I watched the ending and some gameplay on youtube, the kid is Loki, the guy I was watching was playing on the 2nd hardest difficulty and was simply breezing through most fights by holding R1, he got shat on in the early game however so take that for what you will.

The enemy variety is shite.

The puzzles amount to throw axe/blades of chaos at objects.

The game devs realise the camera and controls are shit and adds enemy indicators which changes colour depending on if they're close to you or about to attack you from behind, as well as a quick turn button.

The most complexity the fights get are the two elements you have to play around switching between ice axe for fire enemies and blades of chaos/fists for ice enemies.

The story is kinda shit, the game sequel baits too with Thor coming to attack Kratos and son, and it shows that Kratos will die, just a matter of when.

There's a point where Loki shoots Kratos with his bow and they gloss over it like it never happened.

There's a scene after you kill the final boss and Kratos is having a serious talk with Loki about what it means to be a god, the mother of the guy you just killed walks into frame and gives them both the evil eye as they turn to look at her, then the Seinfeld theme plays. Not really but it might as well have It completely ruins the impact of what Kratos was saying.

It's a 10/10 because the first few minutes of the game come out strong, and that's all the journos will ever play, but the game never develops from those first few minutes hoping that you'll be hooked on the story rather than the gameplay. It's shit.

The DLC costs more than the base game and they're planning on selling coupons to change your character's look include swapping between male and female. That being saiid, I don't get why people are shitting on Nu-God of War for being "cinematic" when the series always has been to an extent.

Asura's Wrath also does something I think is worth consideration in disscusion of the accuracy of Nu-GoW: It's not that accurate to Buddhist or Hindu Mythology in strict terms, in that it's mpstly fiictional characters and it plays pretty loosily with the few specific gods, other supernatural beings, or items from those mythologies in the game, but it does the "tone" of hinduism justice by having similar themes and doing the batshit, crazy DBZ esque nature of the myhos justice.

I don't thiink Nu-GoW changing the motivations, relationships, and personalities of elements of their mythology around is a problem so long as it's doing something interesting with those changes or is still doing the core themes and tone of norse mythology justice. No clue if it does or not though.

I would say the approach to prioritize storytelling is wrong. Not game breaking by any means, but definitely somewhat demeaning. Take films as a medium, for example. Films made great advances and breakthroughs by learning new cinematographic techniques.
