>biogenesis

why is the reproduction energy not related to the size of the organism's segments, while at the same time, bigger green segments suck up CO2 faster than small ones do?

What do you think about still having O2/CO2 in equilibrium but say, 6 different molecules / "food types" to make organisms more varied?

Eg, you'd have a red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, and yellow resource and they're just kind of "there" (or also exist in equilibrium). Organisms would then have something like "converts energy to Red" or "uses Red to reproduce", or "decompses into Green"

I think that it would benefit greatly from them having a neutral network. Also, local gas proportions.

There would be different parts that act as inputs, like a gas level measure part, an eye, a light level perciever, energy level perciever. The creatures would have output parts that could be switched on and off as specified by the brain, like swimmers, mouths, shields, etc, that would consume energy when on. An example of a creature would be a plant that is able to measure the co2 level. When it gets too low, it activates the swimmers, and swims until it finds a place with enough co2.

Here, have this experimental version I've been fucking around on. Let me know if it converges. https://mega.nz/#!llMSHQCb!7zYt4tMGtl4P2gzAIi1uHsByJSxD5MxF9L76xHRoTCw

Anyone got any evolved 3D creatures they would like to share?

The environment is too simple to give a really interesting result, that's one of the problems - all these simulators wind up with wiggling geometry. Big fucking deal. Biogenesis either converges or cycles between extremely similar forms.

Something which learns, like MarI/O, still gets boring pretty quickly as you watch it fuck up over and over on the same spot. A neural network wouldn't make red hooks less effective, they'd just need to evolve to always have cyan and red segments turned on.

Why do they all have to look like shit?

Sorry for sounding retarded but what the hell do I use to run this?

I unzip the folder and just get a .jar which searching just tells is java and to use my browser for that shit but doing so does jack shit for me

c28016 No.14627169

.jar should be directly executable if your Java installation isn't totally fucked.

Install the Java JRE and make sure jar files are associated with it. It should be able to run it like an exe.

Speaking of evolution games, have people talked about Species ALRE and Thrive in the previous thread? Apparently both are still being developed although one is snail pace and other is soil erosion pace.
