What does /v/ think of the Arduboy?

It's more for developers, but it has some decent games, not just portable decent. You can also emulate the games (using ProjectABE), as well as build your own $12 arduboy.

Fun enough to program for, but everything Arduboy can do can be better done but GameBoy and GameBoy Color homebrew. Even programming for GB and GBC is plenty of fun, though not nearly as easy.

I'd rather see a modern fanmade GB/GBC/GBA clone that was cheap, has a lithium rechargeable battery, was backlit, took SD cards, and played ROMs. It would be better for everybody involved to actually stimulate Homebrew GameBoy development than to try to replace it.

Hooktube related, clone consoles will always suck due to fear of becoming too successful and being sued.

All of this can accomplished with the original models, just with some work. Or you can fit a small linux computer or micro controller to emulate the games on a portable homemade console. You could actually find a gamboy clone that can do some of those things but would always lack in other areas.

How do you even shill an open source (software and hardware wise) console. Also, yes, it's small, but it's not that small of a screen to need a microscope, the pixels are big enough. I can see how that would be a concern to someone, but i personally haven't had any problem with longer periods of playing, also You can mirror the screen on your PC using the program Arduboy Manager.
