It was miles better from 1. Why it never got a PC port was something I never understood. Like the other anon said, it desperately deserves a PC remaster.
>Hard times fall on Ethan Thomas, becomes a disgrunted detective that often gets into bar fights
>More spooky supernatural themes
>Drastically better combat with a parry system and move set combinations with satisfying environmental executions
The people bitching about Ethan shouting (dont want to spoil too much here) at hobos in armor and the bear chase scene need to stfu. The bear chase inside the cabin nearly made me shit myself back in the day. The alcoholic relapses and hallucinations where Ethan fights his inner demons were awesome. The game hits horror atmosphere perfectly without the need for shitty jump scares. Multiplayer back in the day used to be really fun too (two cops with good gear vs grunts with only shitty stuff, the creepy living baby doll survival game mode, etc). Did I mention the doll factory level was genuinely disturbing?
