My advice is to wait for next league. Generally it doesnt look too bad, but still, its not a big expansion. Some class updates look good, some look not so much.
For example assasin got 1 good poison keynode that allows you to stack crazy fucking damage if you build around it, but all the rest of his nodes are shitty and quite lame. And only he can really use poison now because of it.
And elementalist got "golemancer" node which make any other golemancer much worse than elementalist and if you play any other class, you will be worse than elementalist.
They really went away from interesting mechanics to some shitty ones. For example they had "projectiles return to you". Sounds like something that could fucking double damage. But no, you could only dealt damage with one hit per projectile and return was fucking cosmetic. They removed it, but it shows how lame they making them in general. They could do crazy shit with overlapping for aoe skills, instead they got "skill deal 50% more damage of %TYPE%" gems all around.
Instead of making interesting drawbacks which can be exploited and turned to positive they stil have items such as https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Veil_of_the_Night al the way from release of uniqe items which have drawbacks and dont have anything good on them. And on the other hand some crazy items which dont have any. They updatins them little by little, but some items are pure garbage worse than white items.
And now some skills and random stuff can be used only by one class because its much better for it than any other class. And yet templar classes only buffed, which means they can stack 1kk dps and 20k es and be better at everything than anybody.
And jugg was even buffed which is really fucking funny after I played as a jugg. Armor is funny thing. You can facetank every physical damage boss(including chimera, for example) hits without any problem except shaper and elder(on red tier) slams while facetanking everything else in game. At the same time most classes without armor can be hit by 5k damage from tentacles which hit randomly and you cant avoid these hits. At the same time templar can stack es, mana and regen and literally afk kill red elder/shaper.
Also most of new players will struggle to keep their map in stock because their drops are based on the idea that you have to do crazy with for quantity. In the end top players will have jhundreds of maps to run, and poor players will start struggle at mid tier maps.
You cant really play on high level without purchasing 20-40$ worth of stash tabs, game is not p2w but its most certainly p2p.
You dont really need more than that, but its for must have shit. For example without currency tabs you cant be rich because you cant even store your currency. And game runs like shit(better than poe before, worse than grim
dawn by a motherfucking lot).
My advice is to play path of building and grim dawn instead. Making builds in path of building is often more pleasing than playing them. And grim dawn dawn is more casual(not in a bad way) and generally better at everything except amount of content(especially endgame) and build complexity and have somewhat lame skills seriously, some of skills may be as well be named "single target attack №1-10. But if you dont plan on playing more than 100h, grim dawn is better.
