Monster Hunter World
>Despite the lack of a number, World was developed with the intent of being "Monster Hunter 5" and was built specifically to target foreign audiences who found the series too challenging.

>HP damage numbers that indicate how much damage attacks do appear for the first time. They can be turned off.
>Glowing green bugs highlight interactable objects on the screen and guide the player to the monster. The ability to track monsters starts weaker and increases the more experience they gain until they at all times display a monster's position. They cannot be turned off.
>An in-game wiki-like feature has been included that gives rough estimations of weak points and drop rates.
>World launched with 30 large monsters. For comparison the most recent non-G Rank Monster Hunter titles, 4 and X/Generations, had 51 and 69 respectively. Patches will be released to up the monster count, with the first set for sometime in the spring to add Deviljho.
>Armor is no longer distinguished between Blademaster and Gunner. Regardless of weapon any armor can be equipped, with melee weapons giving a defensive boost and ranged weapons giving an elemental resistance boost.
>Armor Skills no longer require a base threshhold of points to activate, even a single point in a Skill is enough to activate it, with the effect increasing at higher levels. There are no Minus Skills. Further, some Armor sets have "set bonuses" that activate when wearing multiple pieces of the same set.
>New tools that can be used an infinite number of times with a cooldown between uses. Effects range from providing periodic healing to status resistance, even up to stealth effects and damage negation.
>Due to the removal of loading screens between zones, maps are about 2-2.5x the size of previous titles.
>Each map now has multiple base camps, which can be freely teleported to at any time when not in combat.
>Base camps allow the player to restock on all items freely throughout the hunt, as well as change out gear wholesale, including any items on cooldown. Players can eat multiple times per hunt at base camps as well.
>Bowguns can now be fired and items used "on the move." For instance, Potions no longer require the player to stand still, and with a slight loss of speed the players can even run while drinking. As a caveat, healing is no longer instant, and occurs throughout the duration of the drinking part of the animation.
>Whetstones, Bug Nets, and Pickaxes are no longer consumable items, instead simply being infinite use.
>Combinations can be "preprogrammed" to run automatically as items are gathered.
>Areas now contain environmental traps that can restrain monsters or knock them into other areas. Some of these can affect the player as well.

Did some research on Tempered Monsters in MHW
And collected them in this post for easy digestion.
What is a tempered monster?
Tempered monsters are the endgame/postgame monsters in MHW.
They are just like the regular monsters, but have increased attack power (enough to one shot geared hunters with certain attacks.)
Tempered monsters also have a purple outline in their icon and leave blue tracks.
Investigations with tempered monsters also have purple reward boxes.
Categorically the tempered monsters fall into 3 groups:
>1st tier, HR 13+.
Pukei-Pukei
Barroth
Jyuratodus
Tobi-Kadachi
Radobaan
Paolumu
Rathian
Anjanath
>2nd tier, HR 30+
Rathalos (Might be tier 1, could not confirm)
A.Rathalos
P.Rathian
Diablos
B.Diablos
Odogaron
Legiana
Bazelgeuse
Lavasioth
Uragaan
>3rd tier, HR 50+
Nergigantte
Teostra
Kushala Daora
Vaal Hazak
Kirin
Higher the tier, the better the rewards.
Note: the highest rarity drops are exclusive to the 3rd tier.
Where to fight them?
Tempered monsters are primarily investigation only, there are also few quests that pit you against tempered monsters.
Tempered monster investigations are generally unlocked by gathering tempered tracks in expeditions. (These tracks seem to always spawn in the same spots)
You can also them the same way as normal investigations when hunting tempered monsters. (break parts, gather tracks) But the chance is very low.
They are also found under Investigations section when responding to S.O.S.
Why fight them?
Tempered monsters drop streamstones in rewards and tempered monster investigations reward either streamstones or feystones.
Streamstones are used to augment Armor. They also come in different rarities.
Streamstones can also be used at the melding pot to create new random decorations out of the old ones.
You can also rarely get "warrior's streamstone" from 2nd tier upwards, they come in different types like Axe (Switch Axe & Charge Blade), Ranged (Bowgun's & Bow), etc, and can be used to augment the corresponding weapon types.
Warrior's streamstones also have a rare version called "hero's streamstone" needed for augmenting Tier 8 weapons.
Note: that lower rarity armor require lower rarity streamstones to augment and lower rarity weapons have more augment slots.
Feystones turn into decorations when identified, and come in several different rarities.
This is the only real way of getting rare decorations, and the fastest way of getting decorations in general.
There are decorations for at least some of the set bonuses present in the game. (Bonus charge level for bow, Extra damage on non elemental weapons, etc).
Augmenting quick and dirty
Weapons can be Augmented following ways:
Increased attack (+5 raw)
Increased affinity (+10%)
Bonus defense (+10)
Extra slots (potentially upgrade existing slot)
Heal on attack
Note: Numbers can potentially vary depending on weapon type.
Rarity 8 weapons have 1 augment slot, Rarity 7 has 2 and Rarity 6 has 3.
Each augment also requires different plates and gems for different monsters.
Note: A weapon must be at the end of it's upgrade path to be augmented.

Joining the session does not change anything. It's like a LAN or lobby. You can still solo quests. This means you can join and continue on as normal while chatting.
When you post a quest, it will be visible to the rest of us and we can join before you depart or during the quest.
For those who still need an invite: just type in the ID in "join online session" | "search via ID". Then, type in chat and say, "Legiana a cute!".
Reminder that you don't need the ID if you're already in the squad, but if you can't seem to connect to the one that already exists (via squad session search), you might want to use the ID instead.
Note that, sometimes, you may inadvertently create a new session by yourself, without knowing, by using the regular squad session search. If you see that nobody is in the player list, you created a session. Check the thread for updated IDs to make sure you're actually creating a necessary room and not a second room.
Unfortunately, the gathering hall hub is near-pointless since you can just post the quests from the village. That being said, we like to see that pretty face, so afk there and not the gay village unless you want to be a homo.

I might make shorter webm compilations in the future. Hell they might be a good learning tool for other new hunters down the line, but this won't be the main focus of my streams - having a fun adventure is.

Suppose I should mention for posterity, had two other rando horn users pop into my kushala hunt last night.
It was magical. The last guy's palico had a horn too. Buffs out the wazoo, xeno horn causing my own bazelreid to constantly boom the entire length of the dragon. Hit the backlegs until he trips and you will be fine. Works with every weapon except GS. Zinogre will always try to combo you but you can still hit him in the head when he gets distracted with the energy balls thing and before the second howl when he's charging up. Also you can try to get a weapon with green sharpness if you don't want to bounce too much. (Even if has little green, you can compensate with the speed sharp skill)

I've tried the hit&run tactic, I realize that would take all night and I was prepared to do it, but this fucker still combos me to death even if I am cautious. I set up traps and half the time he runs off immediately after, I set up barrels for him to hit with his FUCKHUGE attacks, but they don't trigger, I throw paintballs, sonic bombs and flashbangs at em, but that only works 2% of the time.

Started maining LS in Freedom Unite, I can explain.
Longsword, more any other weapon, needs handicraft badly. It's individual colors are all stupidly short, and it's a fast swinging weapon. Think of it as occupying the space between GS and DB. You've got your Spirt Gauge which fills as you hit monsters. You use the spirt gauge to loose an R2 combo that ends with the spirit roundslash. If you hit the roundslash you add a glow around your spirit guage: White, yellow, and finally red. The higher the glow, the more damage you do. So the stats themselves are deceptive; the LS has a built in damage buff, it's long enough to hit tails of flying Rathalos' and it swings pretty damn fast.
Once upon a time, you got to red glow then just darted in and out, only ocasionally going for the roundslash to keep refreshing it. Not anymore. Now, with R2 + Triangle you do a thrust that, if it lands, will then launch you into the air for a downward slash that can hit multiple hit boxes. you might get fucked and only get two hits on a bird wyvern, but a big fatty lik Urgagaan? You'll be doing some hammer teir damage if you land. Downside is that using the jumpslash eats a glow, whether you hit or not. Upside is if you do it your spirit gauge auto fills for about 15 seconds making a follow up combo into roundslash to get your glow back up easier. Speed killers build up to red, jumpslash and repeat when using the LS.
Now. the counter bit. Triangle + circle gets you a backhop and swing. That's nothing new. R2+Circle gets you a bigger backhop, with all the I-frames. This must be done mid combo. In other words you have to swing at least once, then R2+Circle while your weapon is still out. The backhop is not QUITE long enough to carry you through a full charge from a diablos. After the back hop you move forward and attack. Downside of this is triggering it empties your spirit gauge. But. If you actually get attacked while in i-frames you flash blue. If you hit the counter after flashing blue, you will instead fill your spirit gauge, and can immediately follow up with a roundslash to increase your glow a step. It's easier to do than all the convoluted steps make it sound, but it's not applicable against all attacks.

Are you talking about Tempered Kirin? If so, the best way is to use fire and not get hit. I had full thunder resist decorations and still got bodied my first two tries. Third try did the trick, and I had the coral orchestra cat who gave me attack up, defense up and negate stun which helped a bit.
Tempered Kirin is such a cunt for an introduction to tempered Elder Dragons. Vaal and even Nergigante with his teleportation bullshit give you a much easier time.

Practice. The general idea is to use the mobility and defense in sword and shield mode most of the time, while building up power. Then unleash that power with axe mode when there are openings. For the most part, unleashing that power usually means using Ultra Discharges instead of the normal axe attacks.
In SnS mode you have something called Guard Points. These are points in the animation between switching to/from axe mode where you pull the shield up in front of you. If you get hit from the front during that point, you automatically guard.
These are powered up if your shield is charged, giving you a stronger guard, and if you do a GP when being attacked, it can do damage. Impact CB does stun damage and if an enemy does an attack with their head nearby where it gets damaged, it can KO them if you built up enough stun.
If you're using a Power Element CB, the discharges and guard points do elemental damage instead of stun.
Since the explosion from ultra discharges are a somewhat wide area that extends forward from the point of impact you want to position yourself so that all the explosions hit and do damage.
The explosions are REALLY good at smashing parts, so you can use that to your advantage. Impact CBs are good for every situation while Elemental are mostly situational. So I use impact CBs most of the time.
If I'm playing online and there's a hammer user in the party, I focus on breaking parts and cutting tails if he's on the head, occasionally doing extra stun damage with ultras. If he's a shitty hammer user then I'll take up the task of focusing on KOing the monster.

I've heard everyone uses CB as basically a switch axe with the qualities of a hammer and from what I can tell by playing with it the SnS is better than actual SnS because it plays more like GL. Coming off of playing strictly a funlance character, the R2+O functions exactly the same as the reload with the same input, and now I just have an extra function of switching with R2 and triangle.Thankfully I'm way into blast weapons and I made the final form of the Zorah CB, which is impact phials.
So sometimes when I "reload" all the phials will go empty, and sometimes they'll be full; does it work like LS where I need to build up charge by attacking? I know that attacking makes the phials charge up, but they don't actually fill until I reload after hitting the enemy a bunch. Basically I want to know I'm filling my phials with radical monster blood, since that is extremely in-line with the character I'm playing.

When you hit enemies with enough sword attacks, the phials symbol begins to glow. Yellow and then red, then bright red. Yellow means if you load the phials, you only get 3. Red means that if you load, you'll get the full 5.
Bright red means you've overcharged. You'll still get 5, but any further attacks in sword mode will bounce.
You have to attack to charge up, then load that charge into your phials.
After you've loaded your phials, you can transfer them into your shield to power that up. Do an Amped Discharge (triangle and circle in axe mode, or the same buttons after a shield thrust in sns mode) then hold R2 during the windup animation. You'll do a slash instead but all your phials will empty into your shield, making your shield and axe attacks stronger. Then build up more charge and load phials again to make your axe attacks even stronger.
You could say you're siphoning blood with your sword and then using it to power your weapon, sure.
