Not really. I'm playing it right now and it's far too slow for my tastes. Combat is repetitive. Drowners show up about as much as draugrs in skyrim and are about as fun to fight. Stat growth is all over the place in regards to leveling and gear so you can two-shot anything more than 3 levels lower than you but grind 20 hits against something 3 levels higher barely denting its health. I can't decide if I like this unleveled world compared to one with scaling but the difference between levels is a bit too steep.

I'm level 15 and just got to skelegay and I'm pretty tempted to drop it here. Everyone says it gets better as you go but I don't believe it.
