So, it's back.
>What
Rising Thunder was a free to play (with no microtransaction bullshit) fighting game for PC, originally launched in 2015 by Radiant Entertainment. The game was designed using simplified controls while maintaining depth and balance. Unfortunately, it was cancelled in 2016 when the devs were bought out by Riot Games (who were scared of their potential as a competitor). Due to outcry from fans, the game has been re-released by the original devs this month as Rising Thunder: Community Edition - a new version incorporating local multiplayer and a server source code for online play.
>Why should I care
Despite being bought by Riot Games, the Rising Thunder developers granted fans one last wish out of goodwill, banding together to release it to the public once again. Despite being an indie title with a different formula that most other fighting games have, it was still a fun game.
>If they belong to Riot, why the fuck would I play it
The game doesn't. According to their announcement, neither Riot nor their putrid chink owners at Tencent have anything to do with the game. The servers are powered entirely by the community, as matches are connected through P2P on an open source server (meaning you can snoop through it and modify it as you wish).
>Shill
Nobody's paying or getting paid for this. It's entirely free and it won't ever see any further official development, meaning there's no kikery of any sort. It's just the game and the community. Just thought I'd let you guys know it exists.

>Joining a match
1. Start the launcher
2. Configure gamepad controls on JoyToKey (if you're using one) before starting
3. Type in this IP: http://risingthunder.community:1337/_01/
4. Press start Rising Thunder
5. Type a username into the email field if you feel like it
6. Search for a match by joining ranked matches or by setting up private matches with a friend
The game has just launched a few weeks ago, so it's still waking up from limbo as new players are joining up. You should be able to find further instructions on how to set up a lobby, gamepad controls and other things with a quick google search.
