That's the whole problem. Games aren't meant to be enjoyed by "everyone" unless they're supposed to, most games are meant to appeal to a particular demographic. Localizers have no right to wrest artistic control from the original creators of the game in order to dilute the original vision and transform games that some people would like into normalfag bait that anybody with the least modicum of taste would hate.
The role of localization is to faithfully translate and perhaps render some inside cultural idioms, jokes or events in a form as close as possible to the original that Westerners can get. Why in the fuck is anything censored?

It's not fanart, the character designer for AS itself (Poyoyon Rock) did the graphics.
They basically suggested having male strip finisher CGs and Acquire worked on getting that implemented.
I don't particularly mind the art itself (you'll see it for about 2 secs when you beat the male bosses in question) but it's a cool touch regardless.
I want Akiba Strip era Xseed back… This is the game that had the Pitter feeds, which had most of its 2ch terminology changed into equivalent 4ch terms, and it flowed just great. The guy that used extremely verbose speech in JP was basically the same in english, with 'tipping fedora' and 'm'lady' like traits. The JP 'wwwwww' was appropriately translated as 'lololololol'. This is good localization.
The whole "trap" debacle came from this part of the game, and Xseed kept their ground despite all the SJWs crying out. They kept the term and defended its use.
(for reference, AS localized ver. has the option to play with JP text - if you check the relevant pitter feed, the equivalent for trap was "okama" IIRC).

Akiba's Trip 2 was NISA unless they outsourced the translation. Which, I agree it's competently executed as a localization without adding game-breaking glitches or anything stupid like that, but that's totally inappropriate for a game that's designed to portray Akihabara (one with people beating and stripping each other with otaku junk but still). It should be exposing people to their culture not ours. It also gets heavy on the memes almost as badly as some of the Neptunia games, most egregiously in the interaction choices.
In fairness they give you the option to play the game in either English or Japanese, text and voice. Which is good because the English voice work is a mixed bag too.
I did laugh when I found both English and Japanese Rin scream "Hentai! Hentai! Hentai!" on getting stripped. That's just silly.

Remember that the game kept all of the Akihabara real store ads (with the addresses, telephone numbers and website URLs all intact), including the video trailers for stuff like Disgaea and a Trails game that XSeed didn't even start working on.
It was a pretty spot-on portrayal of Akiba (unlike Akiba's Beat boring ass fake brands and semitransparent people…)

There is a reason why these SJWs are in entertainment and especially in the translation business when it comes to games, so it can go through them and they can filter whatever they want. The reason they do this is because it is very hard as of now (Who knows about the future) to infiltrate Japanese games because they don't give a fuck about Western sensibilities. Their games while they do want people and audiences outside of Japan to enjoy and purchase it are mainly designed for a Japanese audience in mind. Not with Western media because they want to attract as much of a foreign market as possible so their entertainment isn't about art or making art for the love of it, it's a product first and foremost.
