You're a pretty smart bunch, when you're not fucking retarded. I'm sure that when you play games, there are things you think of. Things that have ever always been poorly-implemented, or not come into play at all. Maybe you want an FPS with dynamic cover, like flipping tables or blowing holes in walls, paired with RPG-lite mechanics? Or a game where you play a village blacksmith in a fantasy medieval setting, making horseshoes and sharpening swords?

I want another RPG like Breath of Fire 3. I loved the observation mechanic, the complexity of the dragon gene system, how skills could be transferred between characters, the Master system, the jazzy soundtrack. There hasn't really been anything else like it, in my opinion. I'd love something like that, but maybe with a more openworld feeling. Still a main storyline, but more side-quests you could take, maybe in exchange for a more diverse equipment list, rare masters, or hard to obtain skills.

What's your dream game, /v/?

I'd love to see a proof of concept game to showcase a new brand of AI. Make an "open world" game that is just a small city, say no more than 4000 NPCs–men, women, and children. Have the street layout be procedurally generated based on seeds that make sense (a "downtown" layout, an "expansion" layout, a "rich part of town" layout, etc). Then procedurally generate the houses, stores, and industrial places, inside and out. MAKE EVERY BUILDING ENTERABLE. It could easily be done under 10 gigs by having a set of 100 or so textures and just varying the color layer and material layer to give different carpet, wallpaper, paint, upholstery, and siding. Then you just model the furniture, utensils, books, etc. That's point one to showcase.

Point two would be far more difficult, and that's AI. Meaning AI that actually has relationships. Give them simple scripts (wake up, toiletries and breakfast, go to work, come home, play with kids, talk to neighbors, make love to wife, go to bed), and have the NPCs all interact with one another. That's the trick. The interactions and lines could even be the same every fucking day (to save on space); the point is just getting them to interact and–here's the kicker–respond APPROPRIATELY to change in their lives, no matter what that change is.

Then you drop the player into the city and tell them that they can do whatever they like. WHATEVER they like. Steal a car. Crash it. If you crash it into another car, you stop that NPC from getting home (maybe forever). An ambulance and police car come. The time this takes is based on whether there were witnesses (and how quickly they saw it happen). Kill the medics and steal the ambulance, drive to the NPC's house. Listen from outside the window. His family wonders where he is. Cop shows up later. NPC's dead, he says. Their script now changes; they're grieving. Next day, you talk to the widow. Over the course of in-game weeks, you console her. And then bed her. And then her daughter. You get caught, widow screams. Your character is now poisoned to that NPC and family forever. She calls the cops. They come to the house. SHE GIVES THEM A DESCRIPTION OF YOU. Now you have to be careful in the city. These aren't like GTA cops; they actually remember. Unless you kill them all, of course. But then the townsfolk are up in arms themselves. Volunteers with guns roam the streets instead of cops (just give them the cop beat script to follow). Eventually you just can't go anywhere.

Or maybe not. Maybe you shoot up the school first thing and are taken out in a blaze of glory.

Maybe you go to the print shop and apply for a job. You find an apartment, take it, the job, and live a normal life. Find a cute NPC girl at the grocery store; talk to her, start a relationship and a family.

Maybe you become a cat burglar. NPCs start locking their doors and buying guns.

Maybe you just cut down trees in public places. Maybe you leave a car sitting in the middle of a road. You stop traffic and keep NPCs from getting home on time. Maybe you blow up the factory. Now it has to be rebuilt; NPCs are less happy because they have no jobs.

It doesn't have to look good. It doesn't have to be fancy. It doesn't even have to be optimized. Hell, it can be no more "advanced" a proof of concept than Facade was for the concept of "full user typing input." It could even be 100 gigabytes. I JUST WANT DEPTH.

But instead of overworld map - have constant living and breathing world where battles constantly happen in real time without interference of the player. Another thing I'd like is a squad vs giant monster game. Set it in a city-scape. Players can customize their loadout, with more equipment available at specific points on the map. Let the players pilot vehicles to strategic points to engage said monster, using chokepoints between buildings, booby-trapped streets, and heavy ordnance. They have to be extremely careful, though, as even a minor hit from the monster carries enough force to be lethal, and they also have to watch out for damaged roads/collapsing buildings. If it used some of the more cinematic elements of Shadow of the Colossus I think a true sense of scale could really be conveyed well.

It'd be a bitch to code, but I think it'd be worth it.

5b8abc No.14207321

I want a lot of things from RPGs. I don't necessarily need or expect them all to be in the same game, but it would be cool if they did

>RPG that requires you to actually roleplay

>you have to give a detailed description of your character's personality when you play them

>acting contrary to that description will penalize you

>small and consistent deviations are given leniency, and extra leniency is given following pivotal moments in the character's life, so that character development is allowed

>penalties start with decimal xp multipliers, and go up to things that affect combat, like deliberate input lag, longer button-ques;

>obviously, since it's a dream game, this is implemented perfectly and nobody who's arguing in good faith ever feels like they've been penalized for doing what they think their character would do

>the game also looks for save scumming and penalizes you for it in the same way

>Game actually puts any effort into transcending the limitations of digital RPGs

>one primary limitation of crpgs is limited dialogue options

>you can only have thoughts that the programmers expected you to have

>I am still amazed that the best open-ended dialogue system ever is part of a shitty free indie game developed in 2005.

>the game would have a mostly seamless typed dialogue system that lets you say whatever you think your character would say in that situation.

>I don't think this would actually be nearly as hard as it sounds. You can consult with linguists about the various ways that have been invented to convert an English sentence into a data tree containing meanings that a computer should be able to easily read, and a lot of the work load of initially can be offset by using AI.

>Speaking of AI, another limitation is that AI can't react to an event that they haven't been programmed to respond to.

>AI that actually respond to and interact with their environment, instead of carrying out the same daily routine until certain event triggers happen

>RPGs on computers should be a simulationist's wet dream. The primary benefit of digiatl rpgs is that you don't have to track and calculate everything yourself, so there is literally no reason not to track everything.

>Every rpg should have survival elements just because its part of the simulation; they should not even be a selling point but the base line.

>These shouldn't be overt YOUR WATER BAR IS AT 20%, FIND A STREAM BEFORE YOU DIE messages, but more like a "your throat is dry'' message, followed by increasingly severe debuffs until your dehydration kills you, for example

>Coop RPG that has a dungeon master and lets you play custom adventures with friends

>System in place to allow the DM to create environments and encounters and modify the world on the fly

>allows the DM to create custom characters, both ones that exist in the world all the time and ones that they create on the fly

You could do all this with a few status bars, a few personality traits and a lot of optimisation. Dorf Fortress is the closest to what you want but it's going to need 200 years more coding to get there.

58ba78 No.14207375

A proper Starfox game with branching paths and choices you make on each planet level can affect future levels/paths. I would say include co-op support but I don't know how that would work in an on-rails level environment without fucking up the difficulty and scripting of dialogue and those moments where you have to protect your wingmen from enemies tailing them. I could see it being much easier to have co-op in an all range mode levels though.

Also online versus multiplayer like Assault's but with more players.

Death Rally (DOS, ~95) but with spaceships and with Gran Autismo levels of ship customization. You're in a frictionless vacuum usually so turning obviously doesn't work the way it does in a car. That being the case, you might want multiple engines pointed in different directions, or nozzles, and all of this complexity would mean equally complicated controller input layouts. And of course, every component weighs something, consumes energy, and your chassis needs to have space for it, and might have to accommodate, for example, two engines individually capable of going mach 50, but which you can configure to thrust in opposite directions.

Gran Autismo, my dudes.

It wouldn't necessarily be my dream game just because I don't know how well it would work in execution, but…

I don't know if I would call the concept a simulator, but it definitely has some similarities. Summarily I would say it's a combination between something like My Summer Car and Harvest Moon/Rune Factory.

It would be in first-person with the complexity of My Summer Car in many of the game's tasks (simply being reflective of the task in reality), but instead of being limited to one task and working on an engine you would be employed as a small feudal/fantasy town's handyman/carpenter. You would repair people's broken handcarts and hoes and whatnot. Maybe even be the town's smithy.

You would be able to talk to the other people in the village and build friendships with them. Maybe there could be some locations outside of the main town with other NPCs to talk to or jobs to take on. Friendships with the NPCs could be practically useful, offering discounts for services or goods, maybe even sometimes giving you things for free if you're good friends, especially if you're good friends with the whole town.

I have many.

But if I had to pick one, it would essentially be an Elder Scrolls game done right.

Warriors play with Dark Souls, Chivalry and Dark Messiah combat. Lots of weapons, armours, shields, duel wielding, two handing etc. Dodge and rolling, dodges for quick attacks and rolls for heavy. Blocking and parrying of course.

Mages have the usual schools but with Dragon's Dogma's visuals and physics. Learning magic requires you to memorize lore, history and language to recite them. You have to learn, toil and master the arcane to use it instead of just leveling a stat.

Rogues/Thieves are straight up stealth games. Proper sneaking mechanics, light/dark meters, noise meters, movement speeds, having to avoid too much chaos on higher difficulties.

The challenge would be to somehow design levels for all "three" classes. A stealth character would need good level design so you would likely have to design around stealth first and warriors and mages second. You have to accommodate the play styles so everyone can enjoy it and get something out of the game. Then throw in a main quest with about four big endings, a dozen or two of the minor endings. Plenty of side quests and guilds with different outcomes. Have to have replay value, maybe steal the Origin system from Dragon Age so the game isn't always the same for the first few hours. As its a dream game, maybe throw in a hardcore mode where you can/have to work from the bottom. Toil in the smithy for a while to learn how to forge a weapon, then make your own and begin adventuring. Work as a mage's assistant and soak up a bit of knowledge there. EDF doesn't really have the feel of intensity or scale I'd be looking for. If this makes sense, it's too game-y. Make it, instead of many, a single massive monster. To bring the comparison back around, Shadow of the Colossus. The enemy monster is ponderous and slow-moving, but, in it's own way, unstoppable. You cannot stand and blow it away, as it will come for you. You have to move, using the terrain and the ordnance you have intelligently. Maybe collapse the road they're standing on to temporarily disable them for an airstrike, or trick them into stumbling through heavy-duty power lines.

I want a sandboxy military game with three separate "campaigns" for each side: air force, ground force, armoured. I want it to be sandboxy in that the campaign progresses based on the performances of your army vs. theirs, based on statistics that build up as the campaign progresses. I want it to be moderately RPGy in that when you start your basic statistics are worse than they would be as you gain battle experience; "leveling up" might grant you a slightly faster reload speed, more stamina (as you would physically get stronger/learn how to more efficiently pack your gear etc), that sort of thing. I would want the sandboxy feel to start being felt after a few operations; if you succeeded in taking that airfield but failed at taking that ammo dump your next missions would have easier access to air assets but would be more dangerous for ground forces, for example. Frankly I don't even care what setting this would take place in, since I feel like the sensation of knowing you're making a difference and constantly making progress (or losing progress and having to fight to defend ground/retreat) would be exciting whether it was WW1 or near-future or whatever. Finally, I think it'd be kinda neat to have a cross-campaign play, in that if you're in the "ready room" or whatever on your Air Force pilot, you could see a request for air cover in xXxBonGmaNxXx's ground game, and join up to strafe his targets or clear his skies.

It would probably have a combat similar to Mount&Blade but on smaller scale, also lots of autistic shit from having to eat regularly, sleep etc to stay alive but without going too retarded on those aspects meaning you could actually go on without eating for 3 or maybe even a week ingame provided you get some water and cooked food would be preserved meats'n stuff no hundreds of bowls of soup in your inventory, not like you could carry those in my autism-game with weight stat, relatively realistic day-night cycle&time, weather and all anyway.

I wish we had a game that combined Sim City 4 with Civilization because of pictures.

It would be nice to really build your cities & nation over thousands of years.

I would combine the following games into one. Sim city 4 & Civ for the base concept,

universalis & Vic, and HOI 3:the black ice mod to flesh out the technology and historical events.

EU4 would enable envents from the years 1444 to 1821 AD, VIC would include the events that come after those dates, HOI3:BI would enable ww2.

http://www.hoi3wiki.com/BlackICE

I like the HOI3: Black ice mod because it added units like rail guns, SS miltia, and other units. I hate how generic the civilization series is when it comes to researching technology.

Like it would be interesting if you could negotiate banning Aircraft Carriers between nations,to enable the game to have a massive cold war of battleships.

I wanted a horror game based on the fear of giant monsters, because that has never once been implemented correctly.

I even looked up gameplay videos online of huge bosses as enemies and none of them did it correctly.

People on /v/ laughed at me, because they wanted a braindead button-masher where you'd be able to kill the monster.

I wanted a hyper-realistic game, where you survive in a city, while it is being ravaged by a huge Monster.

I went very much into detail about how the AI should work and that the graphics engine has to be very good. I talked about how it should be a 1:1 model of european city. So perfect in fact that people would want to play without the monster just to walk through the city.

I said that in this context and this huge undertaking that standard "survival-horror" mechanics like needing to collect food and all that was secondary to getting the monster AI right.

Because you cannot just have him detect you and kill you instantly. He wouldn't notice you. just because you are in his field of view. And when he does notice you, he shouldn't go all out on destroying you.

Also the game over screen should be very gruesome as a kind of reward, when you manage to piss him off so much that you get eaten by him.

Anyway I learned that /v/ is full of faggots no-sayers with no creativity, who deserve the shitty video game industry exactly because of their attitude in my thread.

You are basically asking for Cloverfield, that was a great movie.

Basically, you have a creature roaming the city, tearing it apart. It does not even register your presence, but the destruction it wrecks can kill you if you are not carefull.

Funnily enough, the survival mechanics actually make more sense for a game like this, not only to keep the player on the move, to force him out of safety but also as a nice way to wreck any permanent base you build that cheapens the experience on the long term.

Of course, just like in Cloverfield, you do need a lot of smaller monsters that do chase you and that you can realistically fight off and kill. They always show up ahead of the monster itself and they are a good sign that it's time to get the fuck out of here, while being a more active threat.

The best type of game for this would likely be a Pathological type of game, where you live day by day handling your shit and everyone else's shit in the hope that in the end you might have a solution.

Now, I'm not saying you create some ultimate weapon to kill the monster. It might just be the military actually doing their thing. Or perhaps there is a way to kill the monster by gathering several fuck tons of materials around the city and you gotta do it before they decide to nuke the city.

It's a good idea indeed.

You basically said you wanted a VR walking sim in a real city that also just happened to have a monster, and that you wanted to put out that alone with no gameplay so you could rake in big bucks from your non-game so you could make a sequel that might actually contain gameplay. You kept stressing a super good AI without explaining any of what you wanted out of the monster AI. You refused to specify anything else because you were not interested in gameplay, only that it had a monster and was a super duper hyper realistic city with a monster that had good graphics.

In telling us you wanted a game without gameplay, you ensured none of /v/ had any interest in your idea.

I also did describe the AI in detail. I did it again a bit here. Maybe you should have read the whole thread. I said it cannot be a monster that just attacks you on sight or uses all it can to destroy you, when it notices you. It has to be much more complex than that.

And yes, a very good Engine is a requirement for the game or the whole thing wouldn't work. I don't know why you make fun of me for saying that.

>so you could make a sequel that

No. That was just one possibility. You could have presented a working alpha of what I told you about on E3 and if it gathered enough support, you could add survival gameplay elements to it. Or do something else.

I want a sandbox mmorpg with:

class balance that is not centered around 1 aspec of the game and has lots of opportunities to personalize your play style or your job in the world using huge talent trees with actual variety. So if you want to focus on for example farming animals for their meat/leather to craft with you can make a character specced towards that and work on being the best at it on your server. Or if you want to roleplay as a holy warrior/paladin type character you can focus on talents and abilities that help fight undead/demons etc.

And have it so these are all valid ways to go about playing the game even if not every spec is good at raiding or pvp.

For example a character specced around fighting undead and demons wouldnt be a very good raider because not every raid would be full of such mobs but that character would excel at at farming those areas in the world that are full of those creatures or would have an edge over players that went the necromancer route. So they would have their moment in the sun in that area of the game.

2cc7e8 No.14222137

I want a roguelike that happens in an underwater cave system. It would have an oxigen management mechanic. The general style and atmosphere would be of the lighthearted cyoa books, wonderful and simple, or a semi terror ambient with the opressive atmosphere that the danger of drowning causes. It would have no plot outside of enter the cave and explore. All treasure would be randomly generated and quests would be selected from a wide variety. Maybe in a playthrough you would have the option of exploring Atlantis or going into the deep sea and in another you could explore a sunken ship and fight against ghosts or enter hell through an underwater gate, and in another fight and kill a kraken or enter R'yleh and stop a world ending ritual. Winstate would be getting back to the surface with treasure, and the option would be always avaliable.

Graphics would be in simple pixelart with one or two colors max. The ambient would turn from realistic, fighting octopuses and looting dead divers, to fantastical, struggling with mutations and dealing with fishmen. The difficulty would be tweakable with a selection in the start screen, so it would cater to casuls and normal players. It would be instantly playable, with a deep system underneath, that can be revealed by more skilled players and ignored by starters.

2d23a3 No.14224612

Roguelike with a good magic system, i.e. where the different magic types have real differences.

Divine magic would be based on actual deal you struck with deities and the power you are granted is based on the piety with that specific entity.

Rune magic would be based on inscribing runes in various materials which can accomplish tasks or change the attributes of that item. However the runes correspond roughly to words or short sentences, so you have to combine them to make a functional inscription. Progression is based on finding new runes and getting tools for inscribing in new materials.

Wizard magic would use a script-like language which you write in a spell-book. The words for different things are randomly generated so you can either experiment your way to find them or try to find them/learn them around the world.

Sorcerer magic is instead more raw. You channel magic into objects and depending on the object type/composition/material/history something would happen. So the sorcerer would essentially become a tinkerer, using blueprints to construct machines which then he could channel magic into.

The entire game would have you play as either an explorer or just starting from your base and doing expeditions when you hear rumours.

This.

Imagine being trapped in a game that's as hot of a mess as SAO is as described by Kawahara.

>only one person can ever do any given quest because it disappears afterwards

>this means only one person could ever get the reward for a quest that might give the best weapon/armor in the game or maybe even an extra skill (dual wielding, divine shield, ect.)

>only a handful of players will get the extra skills, and getting them is based on conditions that are completely unknown to the players

>beast taming boils down to praying to RNJesus

>UI is a clusterfuck that only lets you look at 5 items at a time and forces you to scroll through a giant list of what could be years worth of shit you've collected

Elder Tale from Log Horizon was an infinitely better designed game despite being an oldschool grindfest. I would say that SAO at least has hot girls going for it, but SAO's best girl isn't even in the novels.

Takes place between 1100~500 BC, ends around the time of the Persian empire.

The prologue/tutorial campaign would be Joshua's conquest of Canaan 1200~1300 BC, main campaign starts with Israel as a unified kingdom (Saul/David/Solomon). There would be a "senate" system except this time it's God you have to listen to. Ark of the Covenant, Tabernacle and Priests all give certain bonuses.

If you listen to God you prosper if you disobey God's orders things will get difficult for you, just like the senate in RTW. You can also unlock and play as any other kingdom or empire.

I just want a space-engineers-esque game were you can explore and live in hostile alien environments. Radiation storms, extreme temperatures, hostile fauna, brutal gravity, solar flares, large dust storms that knock debris and rubble into your base, Starship Trooper bugs, complete darkness, etc; the list could be massive.

Complete with building your own vehicles, bases, and resource management systems to capitalize on possible efficiencies and/or preferences.

Not a survival game like subnautica where you cut vines for hours with a knife to make medpacks, but where you design your systems to overcome the environment.

I had an actual dream just now where I got really excited about a KoF MOBA. You have your team of five players, each selecting one character. You advance across the map, and when your dudes encounter enemy dudes, The game scoops up whoever's in a certain radius of where two opposing characters make contact, and you have a regular KoF fight. Whoever gets downed has to respawn. You can maybe spend a stock to exit the battle.

Obviously, there are a million possible objections to such an idea, but it seemed interesting and I wanted to see how it works in reality, so I searched for it thinking it couldn't possibly exist, but in fact there was a "King of Fighters Online" that was canceled four years ago— probably because it was literally just a KoF-themed reskin of LoL that only got as far as closed beta in fucking Thailand.

I want a game where you are a student scientist thrown into a specially created animal reserve where you are supposed to observe animals. You have an AI companion that shows yourself to you as a cute anime girl, the game is a mix between a sandbox a stealth game and a dating sim visual novel, it is divided into days where you can talk to other characters in the complex, teachers and other scientist students, and develop relationships with them, you can buy them presents and talk to them as well as eventually romancing the female ones. You can romance your AI companion as well and it would be a feelsy romance where she is happy that you chose her but at the same time very sad and scared that she is probably not the best choice for you because you can't have children and she doesn't have a body, so you cannot kiss her or even hug her. There is a mystery plot going on in the background with some kind of conspiracy connected to the resort that you can discover. Besides the visual novel and dating sim elements, the rest of the game is you basically traversing the animal part of the resort, observing the animals in their natural habitat. Your job is to observe how they act, don't allow yourself to be caught by them because they will run away/become aggressive, sometimes catch them so that they can be dissected, experiment on them, see how they act and then fill out an information form with the information you gathered, which makes the game progress. There is also a mode where there are no visual novel elements and it's just you and your AI companion in the wild, doing research. Sometimes your tools break and you have to either come back to the "school" part of the building to get a new tool, which makes you lose time or craft a new one with a simple crafting system. The game also includes a giant encyclopedia of biological knowledge, being just as educational as it is fun.

>mfw it will never exist.

A new shooter with optimized code for pc you can play offline. No, really, that's it. I am such a fucking normalfag for saying this, but I want to play The Division and Anthem (when it comes out (I'm a sucker for sci-fi power armor bullshit, not many games fullfil this fantasy)) without having to worry about online drm bullshit. I don't have much time to play now that I have a job, and I'd rather just immerse myself in a fun, colorful game and kill some mobs. But I don't want to go online and/or interact with other people as I'm already tired of it from my dayjob. I 90% sure Anthem will be online only, but a small part of me desperatly holds onto the hope that I can just play it by myself without having to worry about stable connections and servers. And if I can pirate it, all the better to SPITE EA.

says, where you are in charge of building cities and expanding empires, but you can also play as a specific soldier in a third person action game formwhat, with a specific Mesoamerican aesthetic.

Pretty much all games just have Mesoamerican themed shit as bloodthristy sacrificng unga bunga cavemen; and while i'd also love a survival/action horror game that plays up the human sacrifice and crazy mythology shit in the region (a souls game using that idea would be great); I'd love to see a game that actually accurately shows how rad their cities and culture was.

The Spanish drained it in the 1700's due to flooding issues, since most of the hydraulic systems the Aztecs had in place to move water around and to prevent flooding was destroyed during the siege and the Spanish didn't know how to rebuild it. Sanitation concerns (the Aztecs were actually ritually obsessed with cleanliness, which is part of what allowed them to/facilitated all the hydraulic shit without problems; so when the spanish took over hygenic quality took a nosedive) and needing room for more urban expansion might have also been factors but don't quote me on that

Draining it just led to more issues, as that caused aridification and droughts, soil liquification issues (you can look at maps of the recent earthquake in mexico and see how the most damaged areas line up with where the lakebed used to be, pic related) and Mexico city still floods during heavy rainfall.

Also, worth noting that there is stilly a tiny bit of the lake system left in Xochimilco, where some of the Aztec's artificial island/canal farming shit is still practiced; but the water level continues to deteriorate along with pollution levels going up due to urban sprawl spreading.

Even 50 years ago it was described as one of the prettiest places on the planet, and my understanding is that it's only a shadow of that today and continues to get worse, even if it's still pretty. I can't imagine how the entire valley/lake basin was when the spanish arrive, if you read their accounts they make it and the cities sound like shit out of a fantasy novel.

I also had a series maps showing Tenochtitlan/mexico city and the lake levels over time, but Ii can't find the specific map series showing the water levels. There's http://mexicomaxico.org/Tenoch/EvolCDMX/TenochEvol.htm though but it skips over most of the colonial period

>At one point it was the largest city in the hemisphere.

That doesn't seem right to me, Wikipedia says Cahokia was around from 600 to 1400 AD. Even using it's highest population estimates of around 40,000 people, there were plenty of city states at or well above that number in Mesoamerica in that time range: Even using that highest esitmate of 40,000, that's only a bit over the average city size in Mesoamerica when the Spanish arrived in the early 1500's.

I'll admit that my knowledge on the Mississippians is limited, but I don't think they would work well with what I am proposing: They just weren't as complex. Mesoamerica was as complex and advanced as bronze and iron age europe in most regards, even beyond in a few, so the sort of city building/asscreed/mount and blade/total war hybrid I proposed would work as well there as it does with the settings they already use.

>>14245335

It's actually a model of a specific, real maya city: It's the ceremonial center of Tikal.

>>14245364

>the complete cultural erasure of a region that had proper political states with complex administrative and legal systems, with full bureaucratic goverments; proper political and diplomatic relationships that included tributaries, taxes, alliances, coups, political marriages and wars of successon; where urban cities with roads, plazas, palaces, gardens, and the like were the norm, and you had libraries with books, poetry; professional artisians that produced sculptures and complex murals and frescos as well as outright philosophers was "nothing of value being lost"

How does it feel being an idiot? Even the fucking Conquistadors were lamenting the fact that they were needing to destroy and burn some of the most impressive cities they had seen and viewed the Aztecs and other groups as actual complex state governments. The only regard they viewed the Mesoamericans as inferior in was them being pagan.

An Ultima Online where you can enjoy playing endless both online and offline. Graphics in the style of Diablo 2 with Dragon Age: Origins' option of switching between top-down and over the shoulder views. NPCs with great depth and variety of dialogue like in Planescape Torment. The story and world would be consistently expanded upon like Mabinogi to keep things fresh. Large amount of in-depth life skills that can turn a profit as well as being able to craft most items in the game. EVE level of PKing and griefing.

A spiritual successor to Ultima Online. The graphics would be in the style of Diablo 2. The camera would be like Dragon: Age Origins where you can switch between top-down and over-the-shoulder. Can be solely played with mouse with option of wasd and hotkeys for menus and skills. NPCs have schedules and a dialogue system akin to Planescape Torment and Fallout NV. NPCs can be killed and revived by players. Like say you kill an NPC, if another player doesn't revive them before their corpse rots (say 4 hours ingame) then they're "permanently" dead until a weekly reset revives all NPCs. Of course this would come along with negative affinity, crime and punishment etc… EVE level of PKing and griefing. Major cities are technically safe zones because of NPC guards and healers which protect and revive you. Large organized raids on towns by players would be damaging. In-depth life skills and crafting which can turn a profit, comfy grind training, can craft most items in the game. If you find an item, you can break it down for a chance to find out how to make it. The story and world would be consistently expanded upon like in Mabinogi to keep things fresh. Two Worlds 2 inspired unique spell crafting. Can move between servers. Subscription based so it doesnt turn into microtransaction hell.

2-4 modes of games

1) Fallout/Farcry/GTA/open sandbox with aliens

You play as a survivor on the main alien planet looking for supplies and trying to evade elites while trying to aim for the weak but valuable aliens.

With mini modes where you play as one of Yutani's scientists trying to gather credits and stay alive.

2) First person base defense onslaught escape game. You build bases, recruit survivors, assault the alien hive, seal off part of your base, slightly alter your base to create your own escape routes.

You also build spaceships and go into space on other planets with different resources, physical laws and wildlife.

You go on very dangerous underground missions for technology, survivors and base recovery.

3) Story-driven triggered campaign

4)Arcade-styled action shooter

A sci-fi FPS where the crux of the game is half traversing varied terrain and doing various specops style missions. Stuff along the lines of destroying strategic structures, assassinating key targets, covering grunts as a marksman, delivering special equipment, recon, etc. Think of something like Payday + Joint Ops - Kikery. The complexity of the operations gets bumped up the more you acquire credits (I know I said without kikery, but this is a dream game thread) and buy specialized equipment.

You start out with your standard sniper-rifle and most of your missions in moons or other places with a comparatively friendly enviroment, so you don't need to worry about bullet drop and wind at first (not much at least). By the last levels you end up trying to snipe a key target in a gas giant, destroying entire space stations infested by aliens (yes I want to play the battle for the Amerigo), spearheading attacks Space Hulk style, etc.

So I said a VRMMO before, a second reality would be the wet dream. However when I was a kid I had a different idea.

So you have a game world like…half the size of the Earth. Players establish their own nations, mining for resources making items is automated but some land is more valuable then others. You elect your leaders (or alternatively submit yourself to someone else's rule) and new players join these factions. Once your faction/nation is taken over you are absorbed into said nation. You then either have the option of continuing to play with this new nation or you can kill your character lose everything and start over in a new nation…or maybe some sort of defection mechanism. I don't know.

Battle takes place Air, land and sea. Weapons of war can either be modern equivalents or they can be sci-fi I don't really care. You want to attack another country? You're going to be getting a bomber group together and flying all the way to their territory and drop bombs. Game encourages hardcore/dedicated playerbase and use of tactical play. It's basically just War: The Simulation. Like if Arma was a persistent MMO
