Now you can't monetize youtube videos unless you have 4,000 hours viewed on your channel in the past 12 months, and at least 1,000 subscribers. They pretty much killed small channels because of Logan Paul's Suicide video. Youtube has essentially taken the "you" out of youtube because it fucked over smaller channels, ignoring the bigger problem channels that make them money.
Twitch is still bad but at least you have someone to complain to unlike youtube which is automated by algorithms. The only way to survive on youtube to already be one of the big channels, get a viral video or make drama videos. Even with the many adpocalypses, even patreon might not be able to save you if you rely on youtube money. Youtube is a shit show and people will be glad to leave that site, even if the next site is owned by Amazon. You can only fuck with people so many times until they just give up and leave which everyone is prepared to do. Is it a surprised to anyone that the one running youtube is a woman? First of all, Twitch is still a streaming channel primarily. People go there for the real time interactions with a live stream, so I doubt pre-recorded content will get much traffic. Secondly, Youtube has more scope since you can upload basically any type of content you want. Twitch does have the "irl" section now, but that almost surely falls back on the first point of people viewing that shit for the real time interactions with the streamer. So I don't see this as having much impact. Maybe it will be better for new people because of the new Youtube rules for monetizing content, but unless they are doing something really impressive they will still have to compete with hoards of other boring casual players and titty whores just like on Youtube.

In addition, youtube will give additional ad revenue if your video is longer then 10 minutes. While this is easy for talking heads to do as they just need to keep talking, an animator needs to animator a shit ton more to make that mark. In addition, animation is also something you can't upload every day because it takes time to do. To make a talking head playing video games video that's one hour long takes 1 hour, to make an animation that is an hour long and is even halfway decent takes years. That's why most animators if they even produce go to Patreon and post videos to youtube as an afterthought.
