Eh, I think that's giving them too much credit to be honest. (((WotC))) just wanted to get even more jewgold from old products, but at the same time won't allow new D&D games using old systems; however, the only d&d games which actually sell and are popular and everything are the infinity engine ones. So when this Trent Oster guy, who had only worked in NWN, came to their offices and offered a "new" and "remastered" version of those older games, while at the same time regaining control of the licenses and distribution, they simply allowed him to do so. The ideological shit is just average Bioware.
Personally I don't care about this, they haven't earned new fans with this. The true problem for me is how WotC and Beamdog teamed up to remove the older versions from GOG. When the first BGee was released (a buggy, barely working game), GOG published a list of mods and cheekily titled it "here's a nice way to enhance your BG experience" or something like that.
