Not only Death Stranding suffers from that, there's also Cyberpunk 2077. Those two games are shilled with similar marketing of prioritizing story and setting over gameplay, and showing fucking nothing. The only game aside of those two i can remember that does that is Last of Us 2.

To be fair, these are more "Grasshopper Manufacture" games than Suda51 games - Suda himself hasn't been in directing charge since No More Heroes 1. The new Switch game will be his first new game in a while.
Besides that… Killer7 is good, but you knew that already, NMH1 is pretty good but definitely flawed (looking at you, open world exploration and vehicle controls), and I can only assume The Silver Case is good for people who can handle visual novels. I cannot handle visual novels.

I'm not. I haven't even played any MGS aside from Phantom Pain (which was OK by and large). I've only watched the cutscenes from his other games in order to get a grip on the story. Snatcher isn't even point and click. It's pick options from a menu until there are none left and you go to the next plot point. Also occasional "action" segments where you have to play whack-a-mole with replic-, sorry "snatchers". And the third act which was missing from the initial release(sound familiar), is basically a protracted cutscene.
Policenauts is an actual point and click adventure though with the occasional rail shooter section.

I would agree but there's no explaination as to why anything is happening. After 3 trailers we still have no idea who any of the characters are or what their goals are. The baby is important, there's giant monsters and necromancy. That's it besides some vague rambling about the Big Bang.
It looks nice, sure but there's no gameplay to expand the setting nor context to anything. Kojima isn't David Lynch. I wouldn't be surprised if DS becomes Sony's equivalent of Bioshock Infinite.
