I have a Vive and I have no where near enough for roomscale. Pretty much every game will let you move your room area around ingame to compensate for not everyone having roomscale. Mine is about a decent sized step in any direction if im standing dead centre of the room.
Basically you use some other locomotion option (teleport, armswinger, trackpad, etc) to get close to stuff, then interact with it within your play area. Weeb shit especially doesn't need much space because japs all live in shoeboxes.

Buy a PSVR GTSport bundle for $200, then sell the shitty online only racing game and goofy proprietary camera for $50~$80 bucks. You'll get a cheap VR helmet for just over $100 that's almost as good as the Vive/Rift. You won't have motion tracking of the headset, but you don't have roomscale shit anyhow, and the gyro still gives orientation tracking.
Also, if you're going to look like a tit with a computer screen tied to his face, you might as well put neon lights on that fagbox.

Yeah, for a monkey who can't plug in a few cables then run software. The capatibility issues in a valid complaint though. There are games that don't work well, if at all, with any vr/3d software.
The brings me to why I bought it in the first place: a 3d headmounted display. Regular 3d monitors have ghosting issues (among other things). The vr headsets ended up having benefits (and issues) that I didn't foresee so I ended up get a lot more out of it than I originally expected.
If you aren't interest in viewing older media in a vr environment, don't bother with it. Definitely not with it just to play a couple of tech demos.

If you're gonna go VR you've got to go the whole hog and go room scale. The games for it are pretty average by and large but it comes into its own in horror shooters like Brookhaven. I personally wouldn't bother unless you're going to get into the indie scene and tap into all those avenues of people being really experimental with it.

Have both the PSVR and Vive. PSVR is fine for seated games with a controller. It's absolute dog shit with the move controllers. Other than that, most of the good VR games are only on PC. The VR games that are on the PS4 are generally overpriced.
You can get the PSVR working on the PC, but it doesn't work well with most games. You'd almost be better just getting google cardboard and using it with your PC at that point.

No, that's pretty accurate. You only need an absolute beast of a machine if you turn up super sampling. Having a high super sampling rate does improve the experience, but it is not necessary. 1060 is about on par with the 980, which is what I have. 970 is probably the weakest card I would use.

Removes the ability to even attempt getting it to work with most of the good VR games. Not much point in VR without roomscale beyond racing sims and flight simulators. For steamvr at least, its completely backwards compatible. The tracking system is pretty much perfect, so one set of lighthouses should last you for multiple generations. You can use lighthouses, headsets, and controllers from different companies, and as long as they support steamvr, they all work together. The only thing that needs to be improved right know is pixel density and refresh rate. But that's being held back by the current graphics card tech, not screen tech.

Since when was purchasing something for entertainment purposes an "investment". I know the investment term has been abused over the years, but it's gotten a little out of hand. I've been having fun with it over the past year or so. It fulfilled its purpose as far as I'm concerned.
As for responding to your argument. As far as I could tell it was hur dur, there's going to be some magical to development in the next couple years, so why buy now. Without give any speculation or proof of any kind. You could have mentioned some stuff done with electrical muscular stimulation in VR thats pretty cool. But that cost massive amounts of money and requires a medical professional. So I don't see that coming to the consumer market anytime within the next decade or so.
The only changes you're going to see in the system over the next decade, are additional optional peripherals (haptic feed back gloves, vests, ect), and better resolution/frame rates.
