After watching a playthrough of one of the DLC for RE7, and the main character is supposed to be a coonass swamp hunter.The VA couldn't pull off the accent to save his life, often dropping the accent. It made the game just un-watchable, And this made me wonder, with the push for all nationalities to be played by their 'true' accented actors, where is that sort of idea for southerners? They're either nig-nogs, or some commiefornian who's only ever heard the accent from cartoons.

Like, is it THAT hard to drag some dock hand from new Orleans to do some lines? Fuck.

You can talk about how videogames shit on your own accent too I guess.

Anon you know if they tried the real thing it would be unintelligible to any other dialect.

I don't really like VA's in general. I much prefer games that substitute them for the option to rename your playable characters.

That sort of customization lends a lot of replay value to games because it allows for self-expression through theming. For example: I renamed my characters in FF7 after famous guitarists so Barret is now Sonny because he's a big black man who has an assocation with machine guns and Red XIII is now Trickfinger because that's what the former guitarist of *Red* Hot Chili Peppers goes by now.
