Depends. Do you wanna play anime and get 100-0'd in every match, do you wanna waste all your time learning 30+ characters' frame data, 100s of moves, and how ducking and sidestepping affects everything and still lose, or do you wanna be a CapCuck?
I play Blazblue, Guilty Gear, Tekken, SF before 5, and a little KoF. For a beginner, I'd recommend SF4 because it's super vanilla and introduces all the core mechanics of a fightan with cancels and links. If you want something where you'll get dumpstered, but can press all the buttons and have the character do cool stuff, BB is pretty good.
All in all, the point of fightan is to get better, to get to the point where you win. People here drop fightan because they suck and can't win because they can't figure out execution. Even when they can, they drop it because they can't into mind games and okizeme. If you stick with it and find a buddy to play with, I guarantee you won't regret it.
