Maybe you're just getting unlucky. I've had many narrow wins and losses, but it's not uncommon for quick matches to end so easily.

Ive got some tips on winning games, Imma use
"Fat Clam Bunch" for the big football of clams
Basically you want to collect 5 Regular clams at best so,you can toss the tiny clams to other players to help create the Fat Clam
I.e. Say I have 6 clams and you have 4. You can toss me your 4 to my 6 to make the Fat Clam(The 10 Clam Bunch).
Also Paint ahead on the map, basically map control so when the clams respawn you have better movement options around the map also paint near the enemy goal post so its easier
If you get splatted check the mini map where you can find more clams
If you splat an enemy With a Fat Clam Stay near it cause if you leave it unattended and some random enemy picks it up that's a free 10 points
The penalties in Clam Blitz work like how you would add positive and negative integers
Say you have a +8 Penalty and you have a Fat Clam Bunch. Basically its like (-)8 + 10 makes 2. So it goes down by 2 points then you can throw the rest of your clams for more points and what not.
I somehow managed to understand Clam Blitz within an hour of playing just by jumping Gun hoe into the fray

I've had a few times where really good brella players have managed to tank for the rest of the team, jumping in front of enemy fire and raising the shield to defend other players.
Not sure how badly they've nerfed it, since I haven't been able to get a stable connection since the last update, but having a good Brella on your team was a godsend in Rainmaker when they first arrived.
