That's how I read it too. Your brain is really good at filling in blank moments in your vision because your optic nerve cuts out whenever your eyes are moving to prevent motion sickness. That means that framerates can go really low before it starts to become noticeable because your brain is filling in the missing parts with pattern matching, but higher framerates still provide more information and a smoother feel.

HOWEVER, there are also caveats. Poor frame pacing and server tick can be bottlenecks
As for single player games, you CAN see the different between 60 and 144 fps, so you should obviously try to aim for that, obviously it's not that simple, you need a monitor that can display those frames as well as graphical hardware that can take advantage. These criteria have been chosen due to my autism using my current mouse, which my aunt bought for me for Christmas after the old one broke. The current one seems durable enough, but other than that everything I mentioned is a pain point this thing doesn't have.
As for your requirements, side buttons are a nice plus but not must-haves for me, nothing fits comfortably in my hands because they're giant and I claw everything, and sensor fuck-ups are almost never due to the mouse itself and are either because mouse acceleration is enabled or you're not using a mousepad.

It's kind of hard to see due to how well lit the image is, but once you get your hands on the mouse, the mouse's right click is rounded, is not hollow inside like the left click button, where it's more suitable for your fingers to rest on.
The middle mouse wheel is also pronounced, but that's not a bad thing.
The rubber goes both ways, where your thumb rests (that left side you see with the side buttons) and the right side of the mouse has this rubber with less than subtle triangle indentation, very hard to clean without tearing the rubber apart.
These are details are never mentioned whenever someone says "g502 is really good", I have always questioned why no one has mentioned, maybe they're awed by the mouse wheel alone. You're also most likely and never will add in the weights to the g502 as well.
It's a mouse that does the job overall and after a few years of owning (the original not the rgb rehash) still works without any of the double clicking i hear from razer/steelseries products, but I wouldn't call a good mouse.
>Any particular model?
Most of the models are just a slight change to the shape, for example the ec series are designed for your right hand more. but the fk series are like normal mouses, but the fk+ is a smaller mouse than the fk, just pick the biggest mouse and roll with it.

Im already on that 1440p meme, so ill have to wait for a card twice as fast as mine to come out (980ti right now so probably 1180ti or whatever they call volta) then im going to 1440p 144hz instead of 2160p 60hz.
hopefully by the time the hardware is out for 4k 144hz, then HDR will have sorted its shit out by then. there are reportedly some 4k 144hz HDR monitors coming but they use 4:2:2 chroma subsampling which looks like shit.

freesync is just AMD's brand name for VESA Adaptive Sync, which is a part of the DisplayPort standard and was long before FreeSync even existed or anyone ever even heard of variable refresh rates in the general consumer market. g-sync is different and uses a dedicated processor in the monitor to manage screen refreshes, supposedly (there is a G-Sync chip that costs $200 but nobody knows exactly how it works).
freesync is already a free and open standard, anyone can implement it for free, and HDMI 2.1's variable refresh rate support (part of HDMI 2.1 standard) is based on freesync/vesa adaptive sync. when you see a monitor says it has adaptive sync that means freesync, same thing.
intel said it was going to support adaptive sync with skylake generation but that hasn't happened even now in 8th gen. I wonder if they dropped those plans when they decided to go with AMD graphics … it seems like the Kaby Lake-G chip with AMD Vega graphics + HBM onboard is just a test, proof of concept, but if it goes well we may see more radeons integrated with intel parts and all the radeon chips have freesync support baked in of course.

also, I didn't read the thread, but 120Hz is totally worth it AS LONG AS you have the hardware to push >90 FPS average in the games you like. freesync/gsync are cool for casual games and stuff like civilization but for action games what you really want is blur reduction which is not compatible with adaptive sync. blur reduction uses a strobing backlight that turns off the display for most of the frame (pixel transitions) and only flashes it when the panel is finished transitioning. this has the advantage of not only removing smearing due to slow panels like high-contrast VA LCDs, but also removes the "sample and hold" blur effect. if you're really interested in this you can read up on http://blurbusters.com/ but the end result is that a blur-reduction monitor will literally make you better at fast action games and it makes them more enjoyable to play in general. it's a CRT-like experience (although you still have fully discrete pixels so it's not quite like a CRT).
blur reduction modes include the ULMB mode present in all G-Sync monitors, ASUS ELMB, BenQ Blur Reduction & DyAc, Eizo Turbo240, Samsung "MPRT mode", and a few other techs. if you are a gamer who plays action games, DO NOT BUY a gaming monitor without a blur reduction mode.
a really nice monitor right now is the MSI Optix MAG24C which is really cheap, has GREAT colors and contrast, and supports blur reduction.

He's right. I didn't notice it while playing on such a high hertz but when I was watching my little brother play on his laptop and he was getting 60 fps (apparently) I asked him if something was wrong with his laptop, and if he was sure he was getting 60 fps.
Its one of those things you take for granted after using it for a while though.

The day of 240 and 480hz is upon us lads. Do not look at the old 120/144hz. 240hz is now, and 480hz will come either next year in Summer or early 2019. Expect gsync+ulmb to work together in about a year or two, then 99.9% of all visual motion will be perfect to the motion sensitive autiste.

The key problem with ULMB is the strobing ultra high brightness burns out your eyes even if it doesn't look as bright. I've tried to use it on various old games but couldn't take more than 30m. It does massively reduce blur, though.

Worry not my good friend, ULMB becomes pointless when monitors reach 500+ hz. ULMB is only a workaround to reduce motion blur for monitors below the threshold of frame rates that cause motion blur. Motion blur every is reduced by half for every frame rate doubling, like 120->240 half motion blur, 240->480, and then 480->960. At about 1khz motion blur (the time a frame is drawn and held) is when persistence (another word for motion blur) is reduced to something like 1-2ms, which is not noticeable at all for moderately fast pixel motion.

The standard deviation is probably over-assuming the real range of detection, as it would have been nice to know the actual lowest and highest gap detections in these people that were measured. Simply put, unless you go and test yourself to know that you can see past 60 FPS, there is a good chance it's sufficient for what you are doing.

If you are getting a new monitor, then yes you should always get one with freesync/gsync (whatever matches your card).
With freesync, just make sure the range is decent. If it bottoms out at say 44hz, and your fps is bouncing between 30 and 60fps, then you may have issues.

>some fag on another forum said all this, it must be true
"most" monitors that come with blur reduction are TN panel displays that are, yeah, fucking awful
whoever that absolute mongoloid is he has no fucking idea what he's talking about, seriously, like this
>So, BR is absolutely useless, and adds THESE FANCY BONUSES to your gaming experience:
>1) +Input Lag [equal or less than 1000/refresh rate=??ms] (for example at 144Hz it may be up to 6.94444444ms).
>2) +crosstalk/ghosting/overshoot
>3) +amplified stutters
>4) +flicker
>WHAT AN AWESOME TIEKNOLOGEEEE :D MUST BUY! MOM I WONT TO GO PRO!
only 1 is actually even sort of true, and it's only as much as half of what he said if your monitor is properly synchronizing strobes to refreshes (which, yes, some monitors do fail at). his 2) point is actively backward because blur reduction actually makes response time specifications meaningless BECAUSE you only see the image after it has fully finished transitioning, which means you can reduce or even disable overdrive circuits completely eliminating ghosting and overshoot.
strobe crosstalk can be a problem but again as we mentioned some blur-reducing monitors are just garbage (LG…)
>500 FPS reduces 144Hz display input lag over 144 Hz (???)
overall his data is just wrong or falsified, he simply doesn't know what he's talking about. using an IPS or VA monitor for fast action gaming without blur reduction means you get to enjoy a lovely smeary blurry display because the panels aren't actually fast enough to finish refreshing the entire display before the next frame is sent to the monitor, but the strobe effect hides the transition period so it appears to be much smoother and clearer (it isn't actually, but your eyes don't know that)

>"most" monitors that come with blur reduction are TN panel displays that are, yeah, fucking awful
>which, yes, some monitors do fail at
But that's the entire problem he is having. Even if BR was useful most monitors he got so far are fucking garbage, that are either build around the same shitty tn panel, or just have defects in general.
>point is actively backward because blur reduction actually makes response time specifications meaningless BECAUSE you only see the image after it has fully finished transitioning
But is the technology accurate enough on practice to achieve the goal?
