Dunno if this is a meme game or not, but a friend showed it to me recently and it's been surprisingly fun. On the surface it's pure cancer, minecraft + survival + zombies, but it's actually a pretty good time. It still feels like some early access bullshit, like it shouldn't be a full release yet. Some of the animations are shitty, both for the players and particularly for the animals. But all in all it's been a pretty good time.

Anyway, how do you design your bases? I've found a trench 1 or 2 tiles away from the house, with spikes on the bottom, and spiky barricades up top, house-side, works pretty well but only to a certain point. Any clever ideas?

Also, why are toilets the best place to find guns? Doesn't make much sense.

already you can tell it's streamer bait. It might be fun at first but it's gonna get stale quickly.

>a trench with spikes

Careful, once the zeds get through the spikes, they will dig through the walls of the trench and bring your structure down.

>why are toilets the best place to find pistols

I feel like this was a reference to the generic movie trope of hiding a gun in a toilet ahead of a job.

>On the surface it's pure cancer, minecraft + survival + zombies

the game literally has zombies on the image and says survival horde crafting game

if you dont like the survival genre then dont buy it / play it

>It still feels like some early access bullshit, like it shouldn't be a full release yet

its actually the opposite

early access bullshit is always abandoned broken pieces of shit and mostly negative

the devs keep updating the game once in a while with new mechanics and bug fixes

theres a new alpha coming with more vehicles and improvements to the animations

>Anyway, how do you design your bases? I've found a trench 1 or 2 tiles away from the house, with spikes on the bottom, and spiky barricades up top, house-side, works pretty well but only to a certain point.

trenches are retarded

zombies eventually break the spikes and crawlers start digging under your base

water slows them down quite well but its a pain in the ass to loot and dispose of the bodies

best way to survive?

build a wall and defend it

with the latest update you can now build auto turrets (you will need to craft a shitload of ammo to maintain them)

this is a game where you cant waste time

start scavenging immediately as soon you spawn

most of the things you find are useful

you should play with a friend

you can split your work and grow your base faster

remember that at the 5th day you must have a wall built and enough supplies to face the 7th day horde

You guys seem pretty entrenched. Walls are better than trenches, huh? I'm only on day 15 but I've noticed some crawlers burrowing under my base, didn't think much of it though.

6442d3 No.13866539

>>13866461

Good way to prevent it is to use slopes that point inwards to your base, and have the drop to the spikes higher than 2 blocks because more height means more fall damage for them.

The real diggers are the fucking dogs, because they get stuck in certain spots then end up digging huge tunnels under your base.

>>13866539

Yeah my trench is probably 5 deep. You're saying I should slope it upwards toward the base?

6442d3 No.13866574

>>13866557

yes, this way the zombies just walk upwards into your wall instead of digging into the dirt. You'll also save resources because you're not spending as much making slopes as you would an extended wall. I tend to leave one space between the trench and the wall though, that way they stand flat and you can get multiple headshots easily.

Game has had some weak alphas (too many bugs, usually), but when it's good, it's good. With this fix to weak gamestage/blood moons, current version is pretty great minus the farming performance issues: http://archive.is/n16pw

Sleepers and minidungeons are a huge step in the right direction for non-blood moon difficulty, too. Rewarding heavy stealth and forcing you to fight scaling zombies in close quarters is big. I die to getting jumped by the sleeper around the corner a whole lot more than I die to blood moons (usually never).

In A17, all the old houses have been redone as big Victorian minidungeon versions of themselves: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBau-ZkbYW4&feature=youtu.be

Arent the devs going further into the post-apocalyptic angle, slowly overshadowing the loot and craft stuff impact in gameplay with less grind-ish options ?

I put in over 100 hours into the game. Built about everything you can build and have lost interest. I got it from a 3rd party key seller site for super cheap so I'm not mad at it. I'll pick it back up if it ever leaves EA to see if they added anything of value but right now I've seen everything and only the first 2 weeks are all that difficult which they desperately need to fix.

I haven't played since they last implemented their big ass mega update after being dead and untouched for almost a year. How much better did it get?
