Just played this for the first time, and it stirred special feelings deep inside of me. It reminded me of Jojo or TTGL, but I don't know of as many games that go for the same feel. What other games are this stylish and over the top while also being MANLY AS FUARK?

Okay buddy.

Besides, entry level or not, they've got a specific appeal that several anime/manga have gone for, but that I haven't seen attempted as much in vidya. Maybe Asura's Wrath or Yakuza? A few beat-em-ups have achieved something similar, Captain Commando comes to mind. Bayonetta or The Wonderful 101 too. But I feel like there has to be more that I'm missing.

You're kidding, but Treasure games are actually a good suggestion. Shmups are flashy and take balls by nature, and Gunstar Heroes especially fits in pretty well with the others mentioned so far.
