Nu-Capcom can crash and burn for all I care but I think that with a shift in perspective, they could be salvaged. For FGs, just follow SNK's lead and for the rest, take a hint from Fatlus and Sega and focus on more niche audiences, make games with smaller budgeting, smarter marketing and stop breathing down the creative guys' necks to make sure everything has "broad appeal". They have great artists and composers on their ranks and, for game design, there's people like Itsuno and Kobayashi.

All of Capcom's anti-consumer practices aside, I think Capcom has lost most of its talent or at least put them all behind Monster Hunter. MvCI was made to fail first off. UNIEST is a fantastic fighter that came to consoles this year. It can easily be played in japanese but the translated version should be coming at the end of this year. The newest version of Arcana Heart 3 is also coming this year.
It would make sense if ARMS won though and I wouldn't even be mad. It's a casual fighter on the Switch and casuals would rather watch than play more technical (read nearly any) fighter.

Holy shit Widow and Soldier look like the most generic garbage-ass characters possible. Soldier is basically just Chris and Widow is just Jill. They have no remarkable abilities whatsoever and their movesets are really samey. They'd have been better off putting in one of the generic mook enemies from the story mode, that would've still been less generic than these guys.
This would've never happened in MVC3. I recall that Niitsuma actually rejected characters outright for being too similar to characters that were already in the roster. He was focused on putting in cool and fun additions to the roster like MODOK and Phoenix Wright, and these two assholes never would've got in under his watch. But nope, MVCI's team is just a pincushion for corporate cock, they have no balls to speak up or imagination to do anything cool.
Venom looks alright but his level 3 is lame as fuck.

That's not how reality works. When you dropped the standards, you gathered an audience that expected that level of quality. Raising them later would only repel them as it did originally.
