There was the first Battlefront they did, that fucked up though not as badly as Battlefront 2 did. And like fucking nothing else with it. Disney wanted to use Vidya as a marketing tool and EA royally fucked that up. Disney had its own gaming division, but they were never profitable and got shoah'd a few years back. When that happened, Disney moved completely to a licensing model for its shit. Like games with Mickey, Donald and his faggot kids, etc.
The excluisivity deal with EA seems really shady; like EA threw a ton of cash at disney or something because if you're Disney, you take on a shitload more risk by only letting one publisher make Star Wars games. Disney (usually) doesn't make bad decisions of that scope.
And Disney's legal team are fucking monsters who change copyright law in the US as it suits them through their crazy lobbying efforts. If they want to get the fuck out of the deal with EA, they will and EA won't challenge them. Unless they're suicidal, which EA sometimes is.
Like other anons said, Disney cares about the vidya as marketing and not as a primary source of cash. Disney, in reality, makes the most of their cash from toys, licensing, and all that shit. You pay a screenwriter, they produce a script, they then turn over all ownership rights to you because they agree to do it and that's how the contract was written.
