Aveyond: Rhen's Quest and Ean's Quest are both very solid western made JRPG's on the XP engine. They can be bought on dev's own site at amaranth games or steam but you'd be better off pirating the games since they lost all their talent and turned to shit by now but the two above mentioned releases are greatly entertaining, especially the latter one.

IIRC, you essentially visit the world of OneShot again, Niko Remembers you, you meet all of the characters again in different ways, you gain access to the giant locked door in Refuge, and then you basically "rewrite" the game's/world's "code" in such a way that Niko can both save the world of OneShot and return home. All around a happy ending in which the only loss is that you and Niko still have to go your separate ways.

I was perfectly fine with the smash ending as well, but there you go.

The Steam version seems to resolve the issue you >>13836819 had with the game setting up false expectations. My impression from your post is that you had a problem with the original version bending its own rules and thereby breaking your immersion. In any case, I think I agree with you that the game would be more engaging if you really did have to play through it entirely without quitting. OneShot is definitely short enough to make that feasible. Neither version really operates like that, though, and the Steam version at least doesn't tell you a half-truth about the consequences of quitting. The original version is closer to a true no-quit experience, however, and there are enough beds in the game to make using them every time the player wants to quit feasible. So maybe the way the original version handles quitting would be better than how the Steam version handles quitting provided the player was told outright at the beginning that if they want to quit, they should use a bed because Niko will be saved.

The puzzles are pretty brutal.

The game only requires some grinding. It does require a lot if you're bad at JRPGs and can't find a good weapon to use (there are so many you'd have to be a brain dead retard to not eventually come across some to survive). There is some RNG to the combat system (as is the case for most RPGMaker games) and yes they can lose you some fights. Basically there's a lot of retard-proofing at the start of the game and it automatically starts you off fairly weak as fuck. You can quickly get around it though or you can struggle. The game usually jumps in spikes of telegraphed difficulty at a time.

Basically its tough but you have a lot of freedom and tools at your disposal and exploration and sidequest takings are strongly rewarded. The map design is solid as well considering the "twist" of the game. Navigation of the dungeons and areas can be a real bitch, especially if you don't find shit like the flashlight or strong light sources, or an item that almost trivializes dungeons entirely.

Keep in mind it is a fetish game though.

As for guro it really depends on what your criteria are for calling something guro. I personally would not call any of the game's death CGs guro but your mileage may very well vary. There are death CGs aplenty though. It almost encourages death, especially to certain bosses. (Though it isn't likely you'll beat a lot of the "intended" ones on the first try, its possible I suppose).

Basically if death isn't your thing just avoid dying lmao :^)

Thankfully there's such a dearth of CGs that there's bound to be something you'll end up liking, even if its just the pantyshots.

I just played Meltys quest. Your slut level is an important game mechanic and is increased by number and variety of sex experiences. Annulingus, the scat scenes in the game that reference it heavily though don't show the shit itself visually, are one of the categories used to increase slut level. That's up to you to decide anon, I've rarely run confusion strategies to be honest. Its not a bad weapon but there are better ones. People including myself usually savescum with a bookmark to get some strong ones early on. I won't reveal their location because you seem to be doing quite well on your own without me spoonfeeding.

I personally just kept the scrolls on me and never mastered them for that reason because I liked having shields and only equipped it when I really wanted to dual-wield, but a lot of people liked Chijinda to be the dual-wielder because of the sheer quantity of weapons he's able to wield. Either way you'll have plenty of time to decide whether you want to make that decision or not because of how much AP is required to master it.

You can have both, neither or either one of them do it, its all on your playstyle and both are viable options but people like to make Chijinda the dual-wielder from what I've seen.

The stomping minigames are not chance-based; once you learn a rhythm or pattern to avoiding getting stomped you'll never die to them unless you want to. (obviously be very sharp and smart about your movements when they try to crit you) There's a small number of NPCs or areas where there are scripted deaths with no minigames involved though but i assume that's not what you were referring to

I don't wanna spoil anything more than that though but there are bosses much later on that do give some lewd endings. It should be pretty obvious who they are though when you find them. A lot of the lewd stuff in the game occurs in non-combat situations though.

You didn't miss anything by Arachne though, don't worry. Your normal instincts were correct.

Most of the other lewd ones are done by scripted events or choices you make rather than results of combat though. There are a few though that you should try for but those are closer towards the end of the game than the beginning (and you should be checking them anyways). Anyways you'll find everything you're looking for in time, just be thorough. Your memory will serve you well for finding good CGs and girls.

Late in the game I started using fast forward via cheat engine because everything was taking too long, and in addition some areas would inexplicably run much slower despite this beig fucking RPGmaker. I missed a lot of shit and I'm not sure how much of it was things I can't go back for, so I'm rerunning the game now with cheats. If there are multiple endings, I think I got the worst one becuase I killed Miku and never found what I needed for the shrink remote.

Still have no idea how to get past the magic circle on the left side of town, or what the riddle means beyond the river. I know you lose access to area after shrinking. Considering the music in the room with the riddle, I originally thought the game would focus on a more magic oriented cult.

That's the Taitentachi. Which I have. Apparently to get the Pure Rosary/Durandal, you have to beat the blonde heavenly queen while shrunk without saving the furyou brothers yet, which is bullshit. I've gone through that segment of the game and everything else up until you get the gold key three times on this playthrough because I missed two of Miawa's diaries, one each time, which I assume are necessary for the best ending. I was absolutely sick of it at that point, and since it was an item, I just hacked it in. I talked to the dojo master and he said nothing, so I assume the triggering mechanism for him giving you the ultimate blade recipe are flags tied to the earning the blades rather than them being in your inventory.

I got the one where Miku dies, the government "covers" everything up, Miawa is under heavy surveillance while being forced to try to fix the shrunken people, and the world powers agree to try and solve the problems that lead to WWIII before it happens. Also, Narue acknowledges that she may have unknowingly crushed a bunch of shrinkies.

Do you want a link to the sequel once you're finished? imo in terms of porn its inferior (due to the sheer lack of CGs in comparison to the original, though it has some unique minigames and events). As a game I also consider it inferior but its probably worth a playthrough if you liked it.

I give it a 6/10 though, and the creators of the second game were jewish as all fuck so do NOT buy it (not that I would expect anyone to buy an RPG Maker game but some did when it first came out, and after he promised some CGs that never came)
