The playerbase is lower than previous Battlefield games a year later after release. The problem with EA is that they don't really give away the sales number (one example is Dragon Age Cisquisition).

True but Dice can't just get rid of the Star Cards just by snapping their fingers. The whole multiplayer is based around that. They would have to build everything from scratch.
They could've made a Star Wars skin over a Battlefield game, that's something people have wanted since the beginning. It would justify the class sytem, each class would have a talent (no infinite grenades or health regen, you would have a medic, ammo supply, etc.). Currently there's no reason to have a class sytem at all, there's no need to play as a squad, there's no real customization.
