Yeah, it is obviously aimed at kids. Still I liked the idea of playing as a kid during the summer holidays going on adventures. That carefree atmosphere was really nostalgic. And while I'm here, I'll clarify why Noah is underrated.
>Juno and Noah
>They talk about how difficult it is when you lose someone in war. Noah seems to acknowledge that he shouldn't form relationships given his job, and Juno says he shouldn't just give up on love.
Juno's ending lines here seem to ring to Noah, as he does have someone he cares for, but he wants to be distant.
>Zealot and Noah
>They talk about how they're very disposable as mercenaries, Noah decides not to read a letter he gets from one of his fallen comrades
The ending seems to fall in line with him avoiding relationships, but it also has him start to realize he could die at a moments notice. He knew before, but he only now actually grasps it.
>Treck and Noah
>They talk about life and shit. Noah is really starting to doubt his position of being disposable, but Treck has kind of just accepted that he's not gonna do much in the world. He seems to convince Noah of the gondola-like mindset, with them deciding to go ice-fishing after everything is done.
This one is really great for both parties, but for Noah it's him kind of accepting that this is just life for him and the people of Ilia. Kind of. He seems to still be uncertain.

>Noah talks about how Karel saved his life when he was a kid by killing the bandits n his village, but Karel says his title of sword saint is ill fitting because his life has been nothing but empty killing.
This one makes Noah truly realize where his life is heading without some sort of meaningful relationship. It's also cool because it kind of explains why Noah has a higher sword ranking than any other cav.

>Fir spills spaghetti everywhere, and tries badly to put Noah out of her mind, but he's having non of this shit anymore and tells her he loves her.
This isn't actually that good of a support really, but it's a nice conclusion for Noah's characters.
I would write about Treck as well, since he's also incredibly underrated his character is pretty much just gondola, but I'm worn out for now.

in general, the generic classes dont get enough love from the fans. it was so cool when you started getting options to pick from different personalities for them.
with iris the fairy, shes your encyclopedia fairy, and sometimes fighting companion! but you can end up having funny conversations with her that poke fun at the game.
one topic that springs to mind is how a spear can attack from a distance that would take 15 minutes to walk.

Otacon is still seen as the successor to the bosses will, and the true heir to the boss, alongside David. He had a hard life, but he made an impressive one out of it. As for Emmerich, personally I think he was set up by Miller/Ocelot because Miller hated him and wanted someone to blame for the fucked up shit he was doing behind the scenes and Ocelot is a sadist, who also needed a fall guy for the suspicious shit going on, as he was most likely working for cipher. Worse yet, everything is from Big Boss's point of view, and he's not only been heavily medicated with the mechanical cigars, but he has a litany of psychological and phsyical issues making it near impossible to get a clear picture of what's actually going the fuck on.

Solid is easily the character who hurts the most, that makes him the viewpoint character of the series IMO. Xenogears. The story is it's draw but the combat is pretty unique for a jrpg in that you create a combo instead of pressing attack and some combos end with special attacks you unlock by grinding out specific button combinations. Also, there is mechs. They control similar to ground combat but you need to worry about fuel consumption. Some monsters actually take that into account so you end up with enemies that can drain or cut your fuel.
