Pokemon MMO would have to be too grindy to be viable because lvl 100 would be achieved in a day, and the content would be short
It would have to have a complete different structure and gameplay. The best you can do with that recipe is, profit-wise, copy WoW's Global Cooldown gameplay and make it for EVERY SINGLE POKEMON. However obviously it would be simple rotations and simple keybinding for each (no more than 15 binds per pokemon, discounting macros)
Then the pokemon trainer is the MC, and he can have up to 6 pokemon with him. he can switch pokemon ANY TIME with a bind and switch to match the weakness type, the strategy, etc. (debuff/buff with a pokemon, then baton pass or switch to another, apply DoTs, switch, etc)
It has potential to be good, but it would require effort, good programmers with expertise with MMO gameplay. The replayability is off the charts considering there's how many pokemon now? and you can make different comps for your raids, dungeons or even pvp.
That's the BEST way to make a pokemon MMO, but it would require a heavy investment and that's very rare in current year.

I'll post these unspoilered since one is limited to when you buy the game, and the rest other could affect your purchase. I have not looked up any story spoilers:

UB Adhesive evolves when it learns A certain move. It's a weird alien bee-dragon. Kind of. It's just as weird as other Ultra Beasts. It is gifted to the player, and not shiny locked.
Ultra Space- A.k.a. places where you catch ultra beasts and maybe legendaries- "have trainers to fight". Whether this is just a few, or all of them are their own dungeon- I don't know.
Necrozma has another form, on top of possessing Solgaleo and Lunala. It changes from the "possessing" form into this other form (No idea if this is triggered by a move, or a turn-1 transformation like when Groudon/Kyogre have their orbs). It has a Z-Move, it's stats seem to be sweeper material, it has a new ability, and it's type changes- part Psychic.

Heat Wave and Synthesis means Sun teams got a great boost.
Role Play, Skill Swap, Gastro Acid, and Worry Seed could lead to some wildcard stuff.
Everyone loves Heal Bell, Tailwind, Drain Punch, and Helping Hand
Water Pulse might help some Technician users, but as most of them are physical I doubt it.
Trick and the Rooms outside of Trick Room will be forgotten.
Sneaky Pebbles are back, as is Defog.
If Laser Focus can be combined with Anger Point… It'll still be useless since it takes a turn to set up. (Though in theory if you Taunt someone so they can't Protect, you've got a free target next turn. IF the Anger Point poke survives to pull it off).
Stomping Tantrum could be interesting.
And Liquidation could be very interesting depending on who gets it. Though Aqua Tail is there if they don't, and Waterfall is still a TM.

Statwise it's theorized UB Assembly can survive even Garchomps attacks (3KO on Earthquake or something). Basically the only things you'd not leave it in on are Focus Blast (which misses) or Earth Power. With 61/131/211/53/101/13 (BST: 570), it's ideal for Trick Room. However it would need a -Def nature to boost Atk with Beast Boost (possibly). It doesn't get Heavy Slam, but it does get Gyro Ball somehow- which will be at max power.
The loss of 2 points of speed for Lycanrock Dusk are condemning it to PU tier (if you believe Smogon).
The full Alolan Dex is pic related and spoilered.
Bare in mind it lists alternate forms you might not encounter as well- including non-Alolan forms and shinies. Also- Sun/Moon never gave you a national dex- so some of these Pokemon might be in Post-Game areas like most of Poni Poni. And you have the PokeRadar which lets you catch stuff that's not in the Alola Dex either. The dex entries are quirkier than ever.

Because they never implemented PVP, and combat took no skill, and going with a full 3D game on smartphones sucked battery life like crazy. They should have done a 2.5D approach with Pokemon sprites rather than 3D models, that way you appeal to nostalgiafags even further.

Wasn't the whole point with Sun and Moon was that crazy shit was going on because people and creatures from an alternate reality when jumping into your world? Aren't there alternate versions of trainers you fight in Sun and Moon? Jesus… when the excuse is either you, or they are literally jumping through dimensions. By probability literally anything is possible. So ending up someplace where all the villains are just hanging out with eachother with some goal in mind is *drum roll* …possible. You're literally ignoring the whole premise of the game to make your argument. This is the only scenario where they could get away with something like this.

IIRC, Masuda hated the "kitchen sink" proposals (throw in everything from older games)- so doing this now means he'd never have to do it again as he'd probably retire before the idea wasn't "old" again.
