Bunny hopping was a mistake. I won't deny that, but anyway.
>and have zero control over blocking
Learn to parry.
>so it's really just a matter of hoping that one of your attacks land and your opponent's doesn't.
Stop using staff and double sabers, they are shit and gimicky. Single saber red stance cuts through those like butter. I've seen good staff and dual users, but most of the time it revolves around getting a single gimmick down. especially people who just picked up the game.
>perform the same 3 or 4 slicing animations in a row and have
Stop W+M1 ing . Did you only play for like 15 minutes?
Just like any Quake powered game, bunny hopping around like a faggot is indeed useful, but predictable as fuck. In any good duel, the other person is going to know where you land and will punish you for it.
If your talking about single player though, yeah, the AI sometimes cheats with infinite block at times, and the auto aim "single player only" is a beginner trap since in JA, it curves the light saber towards the nearest target, as appose to multiplayer where you have to learn the swing animations and learn which ones to use for watch situation.
Strafing swings "left or right" has the best parry potential, but can be jumped over easiest. Diagonal swings are good at catching people's feet and lefts when running aside from them, or if they are jumping over you, but have even less range. forward slashes will do the most damage and will probably land a head shot, but are the most blatantly telegraphed and tend to leave you wide open.
Also, telegraphing is very important. If its obvious you are just pressing W + m1, everyone will just side step you and hit you on the side and back.
