I hate this. I have a friend with a '16 Ford Fusion, and even though the door panels are plastic, you can feel that the whole door is like a tank just by touching the plastic. Meanwhile in my '03 Beetle you can tell just by touching panel that they would cave in with zero resistance whatsoever if they were ever hit. Modern steering wheels are what annoy me the most. Every modern car I've driven feels like I'm using some cheap video game steering wheel with zero FFB.

Holy shit, best way to describe it. Truly though these new cars suck. If I was in power I'd de-regulate car manufacturing.

I've driven a mk6 GTI extensively to compare it to the mk7 GTI and the difference is night and day. MK6 has a nice thicc steering wheel and is more fun to drive and looks nicer.

079ab8 No.13740992

>>13740935

Most modern cars have switched electrically assisted steering. Compared to the old school hydraulically assisted systems they lack a major amount of road feel, Porsche has some pretty good electrically assisted systems, but for the most part they're all basically exactly how you described them, like a cheap video game wheel with no FFB, because the wheel is literally not giving any feedback as to what's going on between the tires and the road.

I like my driving my mom's avensis wagon, but I hate it at the same because exactly that. The steering is so numb, I feel more of the road from my lower back than I do from the wheel.

5c2191 No.13741160

>>13741088

I've been waiting for a few months for it, hopefully will be able to get a good deal. I'm more concerned that the best entry level options come with issues, the T300 seems to break down often and has poor customer service, and the G29 is inferior in terms of technology from what I understand. I've only used a friends' G27 for a little bit before, so I don't have much of a reference point, but considering it was cheaper and came with a shifter, the new models make me wish I had more alternatives. Just kind of surprised at how limited and undesirable the options are for the average non-enthusiast consumer.

079ab8 No.13743914

>>13741160

As someone who owns a G29 i can say that i am extremely happy with my wheel. But you're right, it is behind the others in terms of technology, but it's that older technology that makes it that much more reliable than the others. I'd say anything around $250 is a pretty good deal/price for a G29, it's a solid wheel with a really nice set of pedals. It dropped to somewhere around like $200 on Amazon Prime day, hopefully it will do that again on black Friday.

f2eaaf No.13744343

>>13743914

That's good to hear. I read everywhere on the internet that i should get a T300RS however it's expensive as fuck and almost everyone was shitting on the G29. My G29 should be arriving soon, is the VTCC still going?

70abab No.13744390

>>13744343

I feel like most people who criticize G29 never even tried one, the only legit criticism is that it's overpriced which it is, that why you should get it on sale and the other thing is that it's repacked G27. That's true in a way that G29 isn't a big improvement over G27 and it's using the same technology, but it's still an improvment over G27 I feel. It's funny how the same people who criticize G29 are praising G27.

Noticed Assetto Corsa was finally on sale on the PS store here in the US. I was expecting the FFB to be some sort of massive revelation based on how much everyone is always sucking that game's cock and all and slamming PCARS , but I don't know if it's because I have such a good base setup and use the Jack Spade tweaker files or what but it doesn't feel any better than PCars 1 to me in the FFB department. But sweet sassy molassy, I gotta say, the physics are fucking mind blowing compared to PCars 1. It feels so good to be able to just hang the ass end wayyyy out and not have to worry about having a 99% chance of completely fucking things up. Definitely really digging the physics. All I've gotten to play with so far is the FXX K on Barcelona since the main game is still downloading, but I'm happy with my purchase.

Gonna rate em, i know that /ovg/ loves sims more, but i want to have some fun driving idiotic cars that make me look like a total fag in a big and sexy city.

Which should i play first?

I have only played mw2012, hot pursuit2010, nfsu and u2 and undercover.i tried shift once, was fucking awful, tried to be a sim but it just doesnt have the physics, it is not a NFS game, its an actual simcade, not what i want(though i love simcades)

If you're gonna get a decent wheel, you need a couple hundred bucks up your sleeve.

I recommend the G29/G920 because it's the cheapest "good" wheel, even though the shifter is shit. I've been using it for a year and there hasn't been any serious problems other than a bit of squeaking. If you're cashed up, get a Thrustmaster, I heard the pedals are a bit nicer, the shifter is really good and feels real and you can mix and match wheels.

But my shifter's 1st, 3rd and 5th are broken, you have to slam in into gear sometimes, but taking off the leather covering the internals helped with it. This is probably just because I have a rough driving style, you should be right if you're not crazy with it.

i played dirt rally with a ps4 controller first, and i can safely tell you that with a decent FFB wheel setup it's a completely fucking different game. like, it went from "decent but hard driving game" to "genuinely physically exhausting rally sim".

the force feedback will actually transmit data to your hands and arms like a real car vis a vis torquesteer, feeling when you're losing traction, that sort of thing. the game by default has programmed in things like preloading the clutch or building boost pressure, shit like that. it's fucking 10/10 and it's honestly, now that i've got a logitech g27 setup, my favorite racing game of all time.

Doesn't /ogc/ just use the /ovg/ stuff?

fa4e69 No.13805010

>>13804931

Yes and no.

The /ogc/ versions of rFactor are essentially a refined version of their rFactor Lite version updated using bugfixes and experience gained from the first two seasons of OVGT3. The first fix was improving the performance of the game using hex editing and parameters in order to be able to get more stability out of the game on higher end systems. If you remember your GT3 series history, this problem was big during Watkins Glen and after in S1. The second major refinement is the FFB systems being updated to the more modern Automobilista FFB settings based on feedback from the GSCE races in OVGT3S2. Lastly, the last major fix is changes to the control schemes used in OVGT3S3, and /radcorp/'s suggestion of an easy keyboard layout to introduce people without peripherals into the game easier was the last major fix. Some things have been added and cut in versions throughout the years like trackmaps, UI, spectator modes, liveracers and MoTeC support.

There are four editions of rFactor Lite designed for varying levels of mod compatibility from the smallest at 70MB compressed for total conversions to 150MB compressed for mods using lots of vanilla content. A server hoster version also exists at a tiny 16MB compressed.

Last one I played was the new Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, and it was a 10/10 game for me.

Is Forza cracked on the PC yet?

I have a z87 motherboard. Why do you want an old outdated one? Also stuck with a Haswell cpu? I'm looking to get a new motherboard probably in a year or 2 with the next intel cpu architecture "Ice Lake" because it sounds cool and is probably future proof for being the newest lga socket. Also to jump to ddr4, and to get that M.2 socket for the new ssd's that are 5+ times faster than sata III ssd's.

Still searching around for the g29, to no avail. Regret looms over me for not getting the Best Buy $200 + free stick shifter. Also that pic reminds me of that Dungeon Meshi cooking anime elf girl.

There is some fun to be had in AC lobbies, even if it's just a nordschleife trackday. Otherwise find some rated servers and the racing is ok. The singleplayer content is pretty bare if you're looking for career. It basically just gives you challenges for races and then you move onto the next thing.
