This game improved so much when they added brony hats. It really made me realize that the game isn't about an iconic artstyle and is just about fun. I'm also glad they added all the bloated shit that made the game not fun. It reminded me it's just for funsies

It's really more of an anime then the game, but the sheer fucking absurd lengths Asura's Wrath goes to with it's stupid over the top action is pretty fun.

It knows it's being ridiclious and it rides on it. There's an entire mission which is just an anime hot springs episode where you QTE drinking and chugging sake, and legimately flashing your dick at geisha attendents, and you can see cannon fodder mook enemies just relaxing in the steam baths next to you. It also does some legimately creative things with QTE's in the final mission and in the DLC that plays with your expectations.

Webm related encapsulates it being absurd and ridiclious and it knowing it best, I think.

Yakuza series are notorious for this. Games are about buff dudes having tense conversations and shirtless fighting on skyscraper's roof.

Games also feature some of the wackiest and funny side missions and activities: dancing, video games, pachinko, slot car racing, hostess clubs and more. Also the vid related is how you get new combat skills.

Asura's Wrath remains my biggest vidya disappointment. I still remember the announcement trailer and it getting me hyped for a game like I've never been before, thinking we were getting the spiritual sequel to God Hand with the crazy turned up to eleven but then we started to get lengthier gameplay videos and the cracks began to show. Cue the demo coming out and my utter disappointment at one of the shallowest games I've played.

Certainly one of the greatest "could-have-beens".

This. The main stories tend to be pretty serious with some incredibly tense moments but goes full retard with the side content. Yakuza 0 is one of the genuinely funniest games I've played in years.
