Sounds like a fanfic. Namely since I can't see the likes of Cyrus willing to be an underling to fucking anyone with that god complex of his, and Ghetsis would likely find it demeaning to not be his own master. Additionally, Archie and Maxie are ecological terrorists who had somewhat okay intentions but saw the error of what they wanted to accomplish if memory serves after failing to control the power they'd awakened (at least going off my memories of RSE; I don't have a 3DS so I can't speak of if that changed with the remakes or if the remakes canonically override the originals). No 3DS so I can't speak much on what Team Flare or Skull's deal was.
Who I could see working with Team Rocket, are Cipher and Team Snagem, given that Team Snagem are pretty much just out-and-out criminals themselves, while you could have Cipher (could be led by Ardos, since he wasn't too happy with how his father and brother handled their loss in Gale of Darkness) and Team Rocket vying for actual control of running the joint team (with Snagem being the bitch just as they were before). Cipher also got points in their own games for not sticking with the same few typings of Pokemon compared to other villain teams, and being willing to lurk and ambush the player from above the screen, and plotwise already ruled Orre from the shadows (making Colosseum not merely putting down a potential threat, but wrenching an already controlled land from their grasp). Would also be a neat way to tie the Orre games into the main series more.

I haven't played Pokemon since Silver and I found it too easy to play and didn't like how it grindy it was. You didn't have to grind to beat gym leaders (who are pretty easy for the most part. I didn't need to grind to beat any of them), but you needed to grind if you wanted to get a certain Pokemon on your team on the same level as the rest of your crew. But their lesson was caused by them not being able to control Groudon and Kyogre. Is "they won" in that circumstance supposed to be that the protagonist lost to them, or that they actually had the right orbs? Would actually be a somewhat neat point if the leader of the other team from each game that was opposing them also showed up on the player's side to oppose the team that succeeded in their own game, leading to both Archie and Maxie as enemies, and both Archie and Maxie as allies.

It makes sense in the story (some bullshit about how older games are alternate dimensions- hence Maxie and Archie's old design). I don't imagine any of them would work together- so it could be these are all "fallers" (people from the original games who "fell" into Sun/Moon canon) and are now working together out of desperation. As to why they fell, it could be that their dimension was destroyed. Wasn't Zinna hinted to be from the original Ruby/Sapphire world, and that world was destroyed by a meteor? Could be all the older games (that have remakes) had their world wrecked, and somehow launched into the new worlds as reality fell apart.
It could go full retard and have remake people meet their older counterparts. I would really just have preferred if Giovanni was alive and well in this reality, and doing shit. But with classic Maxie and Archie, I doubt it. He could have just pulled them from other worlds, but his design seems like his old design (no trenchcoat or hat).
It's fan pandering to the hardest degree. I hate how some of the models look, and Rainbow Rocket is a daft name. But I liked Sun/Moon, so I might pick it up. The remix is cool and Battle Agency seems fun. Combined with Battle Tree you've got just enough.
Seems like the Totem-sized Pokemon are only going to be Pokemon that were Totem Bosses before. So competitively, you'll only see Mimikyu I bet. I'd have liked "giant" Pokemon as a variation on shinies, so it's kinda "meh". Not to mention they'll probably shrink back to normal size once transferred. Getting Legendaries might be fun. Combined with what I got from Omega Ruby, I might be able to get a bunch of Legendaries if ever VGC makes them legal again and make national dex completion easier if that ever becomes a thing.

Still, they need to make the main-game not a farce as you say. Even with Set mode on, it was easy. Kill enemies, get something new, make allies stronger, buy merch. Recent games added new ways to engage with the poke (contests, petting, mind-reading via footprints)
Glitches and imbalances, it did get better up to at least Gen 3 (Gen 4 or even 5 depending who you ask). But X/Y took the series in the wrong direction. Judging how Z-Moves were pushed to Sun/Moon, I bet we'll get "feature knock-on" for a while. So the next new Pokemon Switch game will look good (for a Pokemon game. Enjoy your fur texture being a single flat piece of plastic), but the one after that might be interesting.

I've hated Sun & Moon from day one and I haven't understood how anybody likes it. I felt like I was being insulted repeatedly the whole time I was playing it. Everything is just handed to you because they don't want any numale-in-the-making products of common core getting "stuck" and giving the game a bad review when they can't cut down a sudowoodo. The movement is finally fixed but the camera having pre-set angles in every different space you enter was jarring, they should have just kept it top-down or employed the analog nub for a real 3rd person camera. Flying and surfing and etc not being tied to HMs was a step in the right direction but I don't want to ride fucking rentals with stupid baby harnesses on them, I want to stand on the back of my lapras like the name SURF implies.
The whole presentation of the game treats the player like a toddler, but then that's juxtaposed with a plot about interdimensional travel and threats from space, like what the fuck? What audience is this for? Make up your minds. And I felt like the plot progression was totally broken too, the first 20 hours is a whole lot of fucking nothing happening and then suddenly BAM you're in the middle of all this conflict, because you… stumbled across it? But nobody (outside of cutscenes) ever acts like the events happening are alarming in any way. "Oh yeah there's a black hole in the fucking sky from time to time, I just go about my life" "what those thugs? yeah they took over an entire town and they're trying to expand their reach, minor annoyance, stupid kids."

Gen 5 was really good and the newer games definitely have problems, I never denied that. The problem with Pokemon isn't the story, though the execution of the story might be one. The problem is the hand holding, making everything too easy, and cutting content such as battle facilities without replacing them. Furthermore, USM seems to be going the Yo-kai Watch route by putting overworld distractions in the game as content rather than having more things to do with battling, which is bad because it's diverting from the main focus of the game.

And if so- why is Giovanni smirking when it happens to him?
