<Punchinello: Ran into the mines to hide, and the mole kids just buggered off there by themselves

<Booster: Not affiliated with Smtihy, his tower implies he's been there for some time. Pulled the same tricks Bowser did so it's not like he's overly evil

<Yaridovich: At worst, kidnapped the villagers and shoved them in a shed against their will, but without undue aggression. Possibly tickled the elder

<Valentina: Tried to Usurp a kingdom, acting independently

<Axem Rangers: They stole a star from you and didn't annoy anyone

For all you know, Smithy could have been collecting the star pieces to give them back to Geno. He said he wanted to create a world filled with weapons, but that doesn't imply any kind of warmongering. It's a production job, he wanted to give everyone employement

It's funny how they can show characters getting flatout murdered but are afraid to actually say it. Bowser's flesh melts off while he's fully aware, Cackletta gets beaten to death and returns as a ghost, toads in Partners in Time have all their nutrients sucked out of their bodies, etc. Shit, even the ghosts in Luigi's Mansion aren't supposed to be dead people, they just came from paintings.

Except they are, they all have bios saying they're once-living, and the paintings are just a way the professor captured them for containment/display. Also in that game, it is stated bowser is straight up dead, only being fought because King Boo decided to use his ghost.
