I think I would like an age gap yuri story that only reveals itself as such a bit later down the line. It could have a young college student meeting and over time falling in love with another girl she thinks is the same age or maybe slightly younger (there could be some event where she means to ask her age but somehow gets interrupted and she fails to find the right moment to ask the question again. They end up in the not clearly defined part of dating where they aren't sure if they're a couple yet or not and then either once things lead up to actual lewdness or maybe after their first time (I'm not sure which would work better) one morning the college girl happens to see her girlfriend walking on the street and just as she wants to go over and say hello, some other girls join her and they start walking. That's when she notices, the girls are wearing the local middle school's uniform.

Then there are cases when one of them looks significantly younger or older than they really are. Who knows what the rules are for that.

It seems yuri is a genre where hentai stories are difficult to create, with so few doujins when compared to the great ammount of faceless men doujins (as well as tentacle doujins and futa cuckery doujins) offered at Comic Markets and similar conventions.
To make things worse, it looks like that is comfortable to hacks to use and abuse the yuribait trick of deceiving yuri enthusiasts into buying the doujin that the unrelated content doesn't fulfill what the promising cover suggests, only to regret it later.
For example, futanari is a genre that does not require creativity: artists (usually untalented ones) simply draw the very same faceless men doujins and yaoi ones too, with the sole difference that men there are replaced with other cucks, as long as they're cuck guys with tits.
Since "men with boobs" doesn't sound an attractive term to regular and/or potential customers, hopeless futa hack artists market their garbage content putting a supposed yuri cover to induce unaware yuri readers. Because, instead of investing talent or effort to do a hentai yuri doujin, it is easier to produce one more lazy futa doujin. The worst case is when many of them insist to label that sad excuses of doujins as yuri/rezu, polluting pixiv and other galleries, as well as doujin shops (Melonbooks, Dlsite, Toranoana, etc.). Looking for actual yuri content there is a chore at times.
