As far general meta there really isn't much to talk about. The board is still slowly growing and there are no major issues. Now the site has stabilised after the down time, it's a good time to to run an ad campaign, I will do that tonight.
The scanlation aspect of the board is also going well. All of the 8/u/ releases have been favourited and liked on exhentai. Our partnership with LazyLily also helped us put out a very popular flipflap doujin. Thanks to a TL that visits the board, we are also working on our first Japanese to English translated release, a Mai HiME doujin that is over fifty pages. I've always got something scanlation related to work on, so the releases will keep coming. My current scanner is two years old now, which seems to be a decent life for Chinese made electronics these days. It could do with being replaced, so if anyone has any recommendations, let me know. Currently considering either a Canon 900F MKII, Epson V600, Canon LiDE 220 or an Epson V800.

I can't edit board assets. The issue hasn't been fixed in 2 years, it's probably not ever going to be fixed either. Certain features in mod.php are still broken after the hack. If you've noticed moderation being less responsive on larger boards, this is probably why.
The staff have been testing the moderation features of the bunker and meguca is much more responsive than infinity. We will probably never use the mod tools but they are there if we need them.

This has been fixed. Reading /sudo/ it seems that CodeMonkey has plans for developing infinity futher. infinity is an innate part of 8ch's future and this does lessen a lot of the fears that were expressed in the log.

This is a good question to ask.
Probably the most important thing to discuss with growing the board is how regardless of the hard work the translators/scanlators/cleaners put in and how many views they get on exhentai - we ultimately see virtually no growth from 40,000 views on a single manga just on exhentai. Or +20,000 hits on Dynasty.
This is the same with many translation blogs. Empty comment section + but tons of views on exhentai/dynasty. What sucks is that with exhentai if we don't post it someone else will. Dynasty we can at least request takedowns and ask them to not host our content.

Two years ago I started the first eternal meta thread, a thread where staff will always respond to posters, even if it's tell us to suck twelve inch cock. Somebody bought this up on 8/a/ but right now a lot of the userbase on this board is in a state of knowing the rest just cause of board size. Wondering if it might be worth letting trips/names post if only to generate more discussion. We're kinda larping as anonymous in some ways since we've all been posting here for enough time that we kinda have a sense of who we are all talking to despite being anonymous.
Trips and names bring drama to a board which can be good in some instances cause they can spark some offtopic discussion and get the whole board to join in and create content. Right now things are too peaceful on the board. That and low energy. There are 4 users in total who contribute the bulk of the content being posted on the board. I'd really like to see that number increase cause if even one of us left the board would lag immediately. On halfchan I remember threads where users would hate on some tripfags but like/tolerate others because of the work they did to add content to the board.
Just wondering what the userbase would think of us laxing the rules regarding that sort of thing. That and it would allow us to have more out and out troll types which can get the whole board to jump into a discussion.

It's less getting shitposts and more getting other posters who don't strictly post anonymously. A lot of translators/scanners/artists etc all like to have some credit given to them for their work. And this sort of thing was always allowed to an extent. There was always a hatedom for it too. But some of it could be fun like some of the old tripfags on /m/ for instance. VF-kun was one everyone liked - Otaking was another who used to post from time to time. Shitmille used to stream in addition to draw fag. It wasn't all bad tripfags. There was a mix and a lot of the better ones mostly posted anonymously anyway. Even 4/u/ had some trips/names that weren't cancerous pre Troid.

You can have all that anonymously but it prevents certain types of threads from being a thing - where in one content producer is talking with and receiving feedback from multiple users. VF-kun used to have SRW Eternity threads and whilst the game never released beyond vaporware everyone used to post in them just cause of all the stupid shit that would happen. There was one annoying tripfag on 4/m/ that posted for a long time as Ruri Hoshino and eventually the userbase would just start posting this one doujin of Ruri screwing a pig in every thread she posted in. It became a board meme to just do that every time Ruri posted. Shit was fun.
Whenever Shitmille posted the discussion would turn towards G-Savior, the Canadian live action Gundam movie about seaweed with a black female love interest (FUCKING CANADA), no one minded because he basically was the reason they had G-Savior as the Boku No Pico/battletoads of /m/ since he would stream it from time to time and eventually the users even engaged in G-Saviour posting - the same way other boards would engage in baneposting. These were organic freshly grown memes that were fun.
Everyone used to call VF-kun old man and mock him for his vaporware game and his love of various older mecha shows. But he bought a lot of attention to those shows that most people had yet to watch and the board benefited from his high quality trolling.
This is the sort of thing some good trips can do for a board.

Think back to the exodus. We all came here from 4chan wanting to recreate our communities as they were a few years ago, before the moderation ruined it's own site. We got what we wanted. We are free from the 4mods, google captcha, post timers and the other shit that killed 4chan. So why haven't the good old days come back? Why does it feel like something is missing?
If I drag my mind back to some of the best times I had on 4/a/, it wasn't when Janny was breathing down my neck, it was when there was no moderation at all. The drama, the tripfags, the spam, the funposting and the offtopic is what made /a/ fun and gave some variety to the board. It was the chaos and uncertainty that drove the creation of board injokes (memes in the prememe era) and a lot of OC. I enjoy posting on 8/a/ and I appreciate the hard work they put into their board but it's not old /a/.
Obviously old/u/ was slower more sedate. We still knew have some fun when the janitor wasn't around though. Offtopic debates that lasted a month, scanlation drama and our own injokes.
8ch takes itself a bit too seriously these days and it seems that we are all preoccupied with keeping leftist censorship out of our hobbies. This is of course understandable and even post GG, it is a very real threat. I think we also need to remember what brought us to imageboards in the first place.
Maybe the internet has changed and those days back on 4chan are gone forever. I can't help but feel that the very nature of shitposting has changed. These days shitposting and trolling is usually about baiting someone into a desired response. While I enjoy this type of shitposting when it's well done, I also like the older style of shitposting, where it wasn't about upsetting someone, it was about making other anons laugh. It was creative and playful, rather than done with ill intent.
Are we in danger of become a no fun stagnant echo chamber? No, I don't think we are. In the years since the exodus this board has grown from a small group of jaded 4/u/ oldfags copypasting OPs from 4chan, to a board that has is own unique culture and identity. There is no where else like 8/u/ on the internet. We are a small board for a niche interest on a nonmainstream site and we produce our own OC and memes at a respectable rate. If Troid was less frightened of us and didn't purge any content of ours that isn't scanlation I'm sure our OC would spread further.
I love this board and I'm proud of what we have achieved.

We are looking for a QC to work for the scanlation team. You do not need any previous experience in scanlation. It would be helpful if you have a high quality monitor.
A QC is a quality checker, a person who looks over a doujin or manga before it is released to check for any errors. Currently the cleaners and typesetters are the ones that QC their own work. This isn't best practise. We are now becoming a group with frequent releases that would benefit from the extra input.

Other than that I feel as if this place and image boards in general are starting to get back to some form of normality after the chaos that was the exodus, gamergate and the 2016 election.
