Not all VNs have choices that actually matter. Kindred Spirits had choices that basically resulted in just a slightly different scene but everything stayed the same mostly. It's a good idea to at least advertise that your choices matter and determine what happens in the story unless they actually don't.

Follow the instructions for updating the ISO from the base patch for both the base patch and current patch. Once it's fully up to date just use ImgBurn to make a new Iso and then simply run it in PCSX2 (there are images in the base patch for getting the VN to run better if you are playing on a potatoe). Updating the ISO with future patches is as simple as remounting the ISO and ripping it to a folder, copying and pasting the new files from the patch, and then remaking it into an ISO again.

Here's an exact guide of how to patch Akai Ito via a torrented iso.
1. Use this torrent to grab the iso image - https://www.nyaa.se/?page=view&tid=308896 - I can confirm it works btw.
2. After completely downloading the file mount it using Virtual CloneDrive
3. Copy all files and folders found there to a folder named AkaiIto on your desktop
4. Download the Base Patch (http://www.mediafire.com/file/ib37sggelrkr9j3/AkaiIto%5BEN%5D_WebsiteBeta.rar) and copy these files over to their respective folders:

One last thing - to avoid any graphical errors on the ingame movies I suggest you change your plugin settings to reflect this image.
To change your plugin settings go to config -> plugin/bios selector then on the far right from GS - click Configure - change your settings to reflect the ones in GSdx_Settings.png.
You can also play around with speedhacks to improve the speed of the game if you are playing on a potato but this can cause other problems with the videos and what not.
Both these images are available in the base patch along with explanations in the ReadMe file that comes with it.

Uzuki is pretty much Migawa with Chikane's personality/demeanor. Pretty sugoi. Liking Sakuya's sense of humor as well. Sucks her route wasn't translated due to being extremely pun heavy. Nozomi finally appeared as well. On the third day now.
Akai Ito shares a lot of music with Aoi Shiro - or it would be better to say Aoi Shiro reuses a lot of Akai Ito's music.

Of the three routes where it felt like Shoukou had chemistry with the main heroine that went beyond just platonic only Yasumi’s ending worked well with a future romance. In fact both Migiwa’s and Kohaku’s endings thoroughly undermined the possibility of future romantic development. That’s why i really liked how the romantic stuff in Uzuki’s route was handled.
Not only was it more explicit in comparison with the ones in Aoishiro. Kei’s love for Uzuki is clearly stated in one of her internal monologues and her behaviour in several scenes makes it obvious she feels physically attracted to her. But most important of all the ending doesn’t sink everything. In fact it gave me the impression that things between them would only develop from that point forward.

I can see why people would be ticked off by how meek and incapable she is, but overall i found her a more compelling main character than Shoukou. I would agree with this. Yasumi's route was extremely yuri. I like Nami's route for the story and other outes have yuri moments in them but the great thing about Yasumi's route was how easily they fell into princess and knight. The other routes suffer from being battle sisters with exception to Nami. They focus more on the fighting than the yuri since by the time some of these characters interact they are on the island.

I NOTICED THIS. Actually yuri here and explicit too no less. And yeah I could see them entering a relationship after the ending. Both girls clearly seem interested and some of Uzuki's dialog about how after the weight of her work catches up with her and she can no longer fight - she's looking forward to Kei catching her and spending the rest of her life with her.

I like Kei alot actually - she knows how to joke around better than Shouko did. She also doesn't hide her feelings at all like Shouko does - if she cares about someone she lets them know. I don't really find her meek - she can be ballsy at times. She's just not trained and a simple human surrounded by much stronger fighters whom she is better off supporting rather than directly fighting along side. Shouko at least had some training couple with a few powers.
Her relationship with Sakuya had a lot of banter too. It's a shame Sakuya's route isn't translated because she seemed to be the most funny.
I want to see Nozomi's Route just because I have no idea how the fuck they could even eek out a relationship with the way Nozomi and Mikage are.
Wondering about this - are the other routes as yuri as Uzuki's? - if so this could be better than Aoi Shiro. I'm expecting Yumei's route to be hella yuri based off art and fanart and some stuff I read. Seems more like an oneesama - imouto relation there which could be fun.

I’ve put Nozomi’s route off until Sakuya’s is translated, so i can’t comment on how yuri it is. When it comes to Tsudara’s route i wouldn’t say that Kei’s feelings go beyond the platonic. It’s pretty obvious that Kei loves Tsudara by the end, but that love isn’t of a romantic nature.
Yumei’s route though is really gay. I don't remember Kei’s love being explicitly stated like in Uzuki’s route, but Kei and Yumei share several super gay moments together. Also the ending is of a similar nature to Uzuki’s, so the ship isn’t sunk. Overall i’d probably rank Yumei’s route as gayer than Uzuki’s. Only issue is that it’s somewhat murky what Kei’s attraction is based on. Suffice to say there is a hint of nostalgia towards her feelings for Yumei.

Due to how things are unveiled this visual novel got some really good replay value. Events or character reactions in one route might make you assume one thing, but then in a later route you get additional information that throws everything in a different light. Assuming you go the recommended order i’d say Yumei’s route is the one that got the heaviest information.
A shame that Sakuya’s route is not translated yet as i’ve read that it explains even more. Also one of the reasons i’ve avoided Nozomi’s route is that hers is actually supposed to be tackled last. With how well the game has unfolded so far with the recommended order i’m afraid going through her route might undermine Sakuya’s.
I had some more thoughts about Yumei’s route and her relationship with Kei, but i'll save those until i’ve replayed her route. Want to see if the impression i had about their relationship holds up a second playthrough.

The artstyle just looks horrible. I've got a few more CG but I think one gets my point across.

Well i’m finally done replaying Yumei’s route, yet i’m still unsure what to make of her and Kei’s relationship.
The route is gay as fuck, and i think i counted up to five bloodsucking scenes. That video with the red threads coalescing together almost started to feel like a gag at one point.
Thing is Yumei doesn’t really feel like a romantic interest to Kei like Uzuki. Their relationship reminds me more of a small clingy child and her mother. Sure Kei does get hot and bothered with Yumei, and there is a lot of blushing going around in the bloodsucking scenes. But overall it feels like Kei clings to Yumei as a standin for the mother she lost.
I do think this was the sweetest route though. There’s a lot of scenes that carry great emotional weight. On that note i think the voice acting of this game is great. The performances really helped to sell the scenes where emotions ran high.

Yeah I heard it was more motherly than it was romantic. Still sounds like I will enjoy it. So far for me it seems Yasumi's route was the most romantic in Aoi Shiro and Uzuki's Route was the most romantic so far in Akai Ito - both of them were very similar too since they are both typically the first girl you meet and spend the most time with. Tsuzura's Route was not romantic at all but friendship more than anything else. Still gotta do Yumei and Nozomi's Routes.
Other people will say Nami's Route was the gayest but I felt hers was more plot than yuri where as Yasumi's Route is basically spend 24/7 doing things alone with Yasumi and having all sorts of romantic conversations and declarations just like Uzuki's route.
I don't know. I think most of 4/u/ has their goggles on too tight so they don't recognize romanctic attraction when it is actually fucking there. Explains the rabid Tamao fanbase and other stuff.
Hell I even see it here on 8/u/ with complaints about shipping and such. Just because characters x and y spoke to one another doesn't mean they are in a relationship.

I can agree with you on this. Less romantic than Uzuki's route due to the way she treats her more like a sister/mother figure. Still pretty gay though and other characters do comment on it. I think there was like 6 bloodsucking scenes actually. And 7 if you count Nozomi and Mikage's short session.

It's basically got one decision that doesn't matter - outside of a few lines of dialogue - could be a relationship point detector in final version I imagine. The second artist who removes the abs on Alpha is better than the first one who gives her far too much abs.

Also small thing, Dharker have said they're releasing DLC for this and Negligee later. Now while they've confirmed that most are going to be yuri focused, they've also said that they're doing at least one het "For the sake of keeping with the characters."

Apparently, Tsuchimikado had worked out an arrangement with Inari that if we revive your god, you'll destroy the Capital Branch and the Organisation will disavow them and seek leadership positions in the new world. Him being the middle man easily allowed Ruka to kill him.
Still don't know what happened with Haku, she's probably still alive but being exploded with a landmine and the end fragment of Len's sword means she could be dead.

The catch is:
There will be four stories one for each of these characters; Karen, Jasmin, Charlotte and Sophie. Karen and Jasmin's story will feature primarily Het content. Sophie will feature a mixture of Het and Yuri and Charlotte's will feature purely Yuri content. This content was decided on based on the individual characters and the stories rather than what we think will sell and follows the ideas we pitched in this very campaign.

Yes, I meant Sakuya. So, we'll probably never get a 100% patch now, damn it. I guess talking to the localization companies was depressing since Akai Ito would be a big undertaking to bring to PC. I also found out recently that it's possible when doing a port that the VAs will ask for extra money, if they have that mentioned in the contract (just to make things harder). I'm just curious what this year will look like for Mangagamer; will they take chances with other yuri or give us Sonohana until 2050.

Honestly though, I think it would just have been best to get the patch 100% done and leave at that. If another game comes out, translate that one too. Maybe the companies will notice the over seas interest in the series and have an official translation later. It worked for Touhou since we now officially have Touhou games on steam.

They were porting Aoi Shiro and Akai Ito over to mobile last I checked.
It's hard playing other VNs after both Akai Ito and Aoi Shiro. These two have actual good lip sync and the production values across the board are a league above even some of the best VNs. It just makes me question if other VNs are even trying sometimes or if just no one has played Aoi Shiro or Akai Ito to know how good proper lip sync and animated lips/eyes is.
Aoi Shiro actually came with a game mode attached along with a design your own VN mode using the Aoi Shiro assets. People actually made a bunch of Aoi Shiro campaigns and posted them on youtube.

The thing that kills me is that since the games are old, fans keep saying they have no chance, and it is a bit true since games older than 5 years rarely get localized.
But it's bullshit since Kindred Spirits got translated by Mangagamer and it's also 800x600; no disrespect to Kindred Spirits but Akai Ito and Aoishiro have better art (and a lot more of it).
