Íme. Amit látunk, az egy egyszerű rezisztív hősugárzó. A rezisztív hősugárzókról annyit kell tudni, hogyha a fűtőszál felmelegszik üzemi hőmérsékletre, akkor onnantól folyamatosan adja le a teljesítményét állandó fogyasztás mellett. Ezek elé szoktak betenni egy mezei hőfokszabályzót (általában számos-tekerős), amivel a kívánt hőmérséklet elérése után egy relé leoldja a fűtőszálat az áramkörről, tehát nem jut a lábunk az ünnepi csirke sorsára. Egyes animékben láthatjuk, hogy ezt a szabályzót kivezetik a halózati kábellel egy vonalban, hogy az asztal alá mászása nélkül is lehessen szabályozni a hőmérsékletet. Az egyetlen megoldandó probléma a hősies kotatsu berhelő számára a fűtőelem (hősurgárzó) viszonylagos izolálása az asztalrácstól, gondolom ezt némi távolság meg is oldja. A képen látható rács kreálása után már csak egy pokrócra van szükségünk, meg egy asztallapra. Nyilván, ha bevárik, akkor kifinomultabbra meg lehet oldani a pokróc rögzítését a rácsra, és az asztallapét, hogy nem másszon el, ha nekidőlünk.
A másik kettő képen azt figyelhetjük meg, hogy jap hőseink talán a helyileg alkalmazott hősugárzőkat preferálják a klasszik nyugati központi fűtéssel szemben, de ez lehet a házaik építési módjaiból is következő lehetőség (a nyugati házak nem szeretik, ha nagyon hidegek a falak)
