So this is a hungarian board? I'm hungry, too!
How do I make original gulyás?

3 tablespoons pork lard or butter (pork fat is traditionally used)
1½ pounds yellow onions, chopped
¼ cup good quality sweet imported Hungarian paprika
1½ pounds beef (see note), cut into ½ inch pieces
5 cloves garlic, minced
2 red bell peppers, seeded/membranes removed, cut into ½ inch chunks
1 yellow bell pepper, seeded/membranes removed, cut into ½ inch chunks
2 tomatoes, diced
2 carrots, diced
2 medium potatoes, cut into ½ inch chunks
5 cups beef broth
1 bay leaf
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- Melt the lard or butter in a Dutch oven over medium high heat and cook the onions until beginning to brown, about 7-10 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the paprika. Add the beef and garlic, return to the heat, and cook for about 10 minutes, or until the beef is no longer pink.
- Add the bell peppers and cook for another 7-8 minutes. Add the carrots, tomatoes, potatoes, beef broth, bay leaf, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce the heat to medium, and simmer for 40 minutes (see note). Add salt to taste.
- Serve with a dollop of sour cream, some crusty bread, and a cool cucumber salad.
Jó étvágyat!

Don't forget that gulyás and gulyásleves are different foods. The former is the traditional stuff, the later is a beef soup invented by cityfolks. Also, look up pörkölt and paprikás too.

More or less the same, but without carrot, and a bit heavier on onion.

Ok you lengyel faggots, polack here and we have a dish called Leczo or Lecho how's that pronouced and in looks like pic rel, I know its hungarian in origin, but is it just retarded gulyás or a copy of other dish whatsoever? Fun fact, we call gulasz every stew with meat so it's kinda misleading

That dish is originated from France, and it's called ratatouille, the only difference in our version is leaving out the aubergine and add more paprika instead. If paprikash is plan B then lecho is plan C.
It is still a decent dish if you add eggs and chorizo-like sausage.
We call every stew with meat Pörkölt.

You guys have some good stuff too, for example, krakowska is my favourite meat product atm. I have to rely a lot on polish products right now because its similar to ours and hungarian food is ridicliously overpriced here, I cant even find the type of vinegar we are using at home, so im just buying my ocet from a local polish grocery store. :3

1. throw a lot of chopped onions in a pot, with a lot of grease
2. wait till onion gets soggy
3. chuck in the meat (does not matter what kind)
4. cook till meat turns whiter than a school shooter
5. pour water on it, chuck in the spices (reminder: no such thing as too much paprika)
6 cook till stuff gets soft (carrots and potatoes)
7. You are done! Serve with fresh bread, and enjoy it!

kiełbasa krakowska sucha is really great, I agree, what I wanted to say that anything in "traditional polish cooking" that is spicy in any matter is called węgierskie, so hungarian in english, everything, if something has a spicy version it's gonna be called hunagarian and "thing"
like placki ziemniaczane, which are potato pancakes, if on top of them we will make game sauce its gonna be called hunters potato pancakes, if on top of them is gonna be something spicy with meat we will call that hungarian potato pancakes

But lengyel is Polish and magyar is Hungarian. I suppose we both start this with the other nation first, out of courtesy.
