If it's a matter of Linux popularity of a platform then having FOSS competition to professional tools is irrelevant. Again, this is a tiny market in relation to general population of PC users. And if Linux manages to get a sizeable audience of non-professionals then companies will just port their pro tools to Linux more often.

So it's not worth fighting for at this moment and it will solve itself later if/when Linux gets rid of it's current issues as a general purpose desktop OS.

Other than systems related software FOSS is largely subpar compared to proprietary stuff. For FOSS maximalists, the decision to use the software they do is an ideological choice rather than a practical one. Ask yourself, if the software you're using is self contained, isn't scamming you or spying on you, does it make a difference to you if its FOSS if it works well? Another thing is so often free software would be so much more functional to use with some simple UX changes. Are you willing to put in the time to make these changes? Or are you more interested in using said software to create and do things? At the end of the day, its a lifestyle choice. Sure its nice to contribute to different FOSS projects, but for complex powerful software, unless you're already a highly competent developer in whatever related niche field, and you're already a user then you're better off pirating the superior nonfree software. More often than not having a company with a team of experienced developers will yield better software than software written by a small group of enthusiasts.
