Well guys I need yr career advice. I had a job interview today for a big time microsoft contractor doing helpdesk. Interview went good, I think they might hire me. Im in my 30s, ive worked in psych for 10 years cuz it was good money and union. But i cant take the stress and bs much longer. Im chipping away at a BS in cybersecurity and working towards my certs, OSCP, etc. My question is what are some good paths from helpdesk after awhile? Network engineer? Admin? What

Bumping because I'm thinking of getting my A+ cert to try and get a helpdesk job. I have a BS in chemistry but I can't get hired by a chem lab, so being a helpdesk bitch would be a step up from the min wage shithole I'm in now.

Paths from helpdesk don't exist. You switch to a totally different path.

Network engineer is CCNA. Get one and apply for every entry level thing you see.

Sysadmin is cancer. You need 5 years experience to get in the door because this is where all the helpdesk fags end up after 10 years.

Cybersecurity seems to be a meme. I've never seen a job listed for that sector.

If you learn Java you might be get a programming job.

If you learn a Javascript framework you might get a webdev job.

That's about it. All the varied careers and interesting languages stuff is a total meme.

Not OP, but I want to become a sysadmin. Does this mean i'm fucked? School dropout NEET here and i'm getting tired of being a NEET.

why would it? they can still get paid lots of money doing nothing like they always have. sysadmins are probably some tax fraud thing because theres no reason to pay those people so much to do things that anyone who knows at least something about computers can do.
