I've been using Firefox for a couple of months now after I switched over from Chromium. I like it, but I have been hearing some bad things about it recently.

it's not perfect but it's best out of the "mainstream" browsers. don't mess with anything chromium. GNU icecat is the best modern browser, but reducing web usage is even better.

IceCat is the only good fork, it's on GNU/Linux and android. If your on windows or macos use waterfox.

Remember, firefox from mozilla is complete spyware and should never be used.

There are no good "modern" browsers. They all are shit because first they fucked the "web" standards up. You can run dillo or lynx if you want something lightweight. You can't write a modern browser that renders shit right unless you go in and fuck it all up now. If you could the masses are begging for something that can't be. Now to reach some text and images you connect you 6 different domains to generate bullshit traffic. Browsers so shit shit the leaks get into the gigabytes. The "Web" died a long time ago. if you haven't noticed they've been purging hard on online content the last 10 years. All the major platforms this this past year and previous have been terminating content that goes against arbitrary "community guidelines" aka whatever we don't like" Just a phase. All the old networks and protocols are still up and populated, if sparsely, but that's a good thing. Only problem is getting the right content over there with the right people.

Not the argument. The argument is that if KHTML (Chrome/Safari) achieves 100% marketshare over browser engines, the HTML will cease even the pretense of being a standard tracked in implementation by browser authors, and instead become perpetually outdated documentation tracking buggy quirks in the Blink source tree.

With the death of Opera & MS Edge, Gecko/Servo is literally the one single thing forcing the tech industry to keep WHATWG and standardized HTML/CSS/JS from dissolving completely.

That said, in spite of its being slower and more bloated, Firefox & forks remain arguably superior to any Konqueror descendant, insofar as the extension system is still more powerful than anything anyone else has, and selection of features in extensions remains greater than the built-in features of any other browser.
