Hey /tech/,
So my old gaming rig is really degrading at this point and is due for a full replacement. The CD trays can't open on their own anymore, the CPU is starting to fail and has in the decade it's been in use welding itself to the motherboard, which is down 1 BIOS chip anyways (dual BIOS is a live-safer I tell you), and the GPU is honestly just sub-par for any game released after 2012. Really the only components in it that are still worth saving are the PSU and the RAM (though it's DDR-3).
Because of this, I *really* want to start building a new PC. For that though, I should decide what components I shall use. As for the CPU I'll probably spring for a R9 3900X so that it's futureproofed for a while, plus it's cheaper than the i9 while also better. As for the rest though.. does anyone have any advice? I'm willing to essentially throw all my disposable income at it, and really work towards it financially, but it needs to stay somewhat sane. No 128GB VRAM GPU's at 9000 euros a pop.
Anyone got advice on what to get? Having some specific hardware to work toward will be of a great help to really form a solid cost picture. I'd like it to be futureproof too, at least for a while.
