Seems like people got wise to PC flipping on eBay as of late and computers that used to be able gotten for cheap are now tripled in price.

I just want to get a cheap core2duo laptop for Linux around 30-40 bucks.

Anyone know of any places other than getting lucky on eBay?

idk. i got my memepad from a local store years ago. probably paid way too much but it just works and i didnt need to deal with that gay bidding shit that all the cheap ebay things have and also got it immediately. it even had a ips panel, ssd and a battery that could run the thing for 10 hours.

I ended up buying an HP 2710p for 40 bucks. I don't think it comes with a hard drive but I figure I'll put a linux distro on a usb stick and use that.

I just want something for puttering around with linux and maybe a bit of emulation and programming or whatever.

The surplus store of my University has laptops from $25-$100. No hard drive but usually everything else is there. Lots of older thinkpads move through there. More modern is more expensive of course but it's all recent enough to be serviceable. If you're fortunate enough to live near a large university maybe check it out and see if they've got a surplus store.
