Hello tech friends

Disclaimer: I am not a thief, I am an idiot that bought a phone on craigslist

I bought a phone off of craigslist that wasn't paid off and is tied to a sprint account that is past due. The IMEI will eventually be blacklisted, although it is not at the moment.

I paid $200 bucks for this Samsung galaxy s8 active and would really hate for this thing to be a damn paperweight.

Can anyone lead me in the right direction?

So far I'm aware of a few options

octobox plus, z3x box, swapping out the board with a new one, paying for a third party service (which I am willing to do if reputable and offers a guarantee) or lastly I was told that if I root the phone there's a tool that's called something along the lines of IMEI_decode and to flash the bin file it spits out into the boot rom.

Backup NVRAM, or everything you can, download the stock firmware (not custom rom you nigger), flash stock with fastboot or samsung kies or whatever they're using now and delete NVRAM.

Boot up and if successful it will have zeroes as IMEI and on another reboot it will regenerate its own IMEI. Good thing is it won't get disabled by telecoms anymore. Possible that it will disable any form of IMEI-based google FRP.

Protip: remove any sim card and airplane mode it until you know how you can safely install recovery in it.

That will reduce the vector for receiving the deathswitch.

Chances are it might require you to link it to some samsung account for bootloader unlock and your only choice is to sell it as broken.

Still stolen. Contract subsidized phones/installment plans are basically rent-to-own, but the phone companies won't repo some phone you probably had stashed in your asscrack. Anyone can pay off an account as long as they know a phone number on it, but if they cannot verify the account, they have to play 20 questions.

You can use SN Writer.

You can use Maui Meta

You can root it and use termux.

You can root it and use chamelephon.

I have only had success with chamelephon and it was fleeting at best.

SN Writer and Maui Meta should work if you can get proper drivers and your BPLGU file. I however was unable to get working drivers nor a proper AP_DB or MDDB.
