You will never really get self driving cars, how will the po-po be able to harass and collect the ticket fines? every jurisdiction is corrupt, lining their pockets with this money (since taxes already pay their wages).

In every municipal jurisdiction they will begin to pass ordinances (quietly) against the use of self driving mode within their jurisdiction, so when cop pulls you over to write bogus ticket to meet his quota, and you say its a self driving car, was not me, he will then write you a ticket for using self-driving mode.

All we need to do for funding is sell space rocks to some rich dumbfucks for $2B each. Fund it.

Space is pointless for us humans, we simply aren't build for it. Stuff like astroid mining etc. (if possible) would also just delay the inevitable which is that we are going to die on this blue dot. If we don't utterly fuck up before, maybe we can bring forth another kind of intelligent lifeform with artifical intelligence. They might be better equipped for the rigors of space and get farther than we did.
