I'm pretty sure many of you faggots are familiar with dhcpd. It's a small *nix daemon that handles DHCP. You put your address ranges and options in a simple ASCII config file, and you're all set. Easy, right?
Well ISC wants to replace it with this new shit called "Kea". If you thought your dhcpd needed to have some unnecessary bloat, this is the daemon for you.
Some highlights:
>Store leases and host reservations in a MySQL, PostgreSQL or Cassandra database rather than a text file
great now you have to set up a fucking database just for DHCP
>Extend and customize Kea through Hooks
why would this be necessary?
>For an example of how this can be used, see the Facebook Kea Application
Facebook... DHCP... Application.
kill me
>Commercially-licensed hooks
>We are building a library of commercially-licensed hooks applications to help support Kea development. These are distributed as source packages, but with an End User License Agreement that prohibits redistribution outside your organization.
oh great, proprietary shite
>Our Forensic Logging application works with Kea 1.1 and later versions and creates a separate log that may be useful for meeting law enforcement data retention requirements.
fuck you, NSA
