Does anyone else go for months of time where they feel fine, and aren't thinking about what Disney has done, and then out of nowhere they're slapped in the face by modern Disney Wars fans and their antics?

I'm not going to pretend that my life isn't an empty one. I'm not someone special, I work an unrewarding job, I have no family, I have no friends. So I'm sure other people are doing just fine. But for me, Star Wars used to mean a lot to me. I really cared about it. I never thought it was perfect, but the messages that George was going for really resonated with me. The idea that no matter how far gone you are, you can still redeem yourself. The message that society can be, and often is, wrong. That beaurocracy corrupts. I loved the movies and a lot of the EU.

I don't hate what Disney has done just because they're Disney, I hate it because they've cheapened Star Wars and turned it into nothing more than a money making operation. All of the awful things people have accused George of doing, they have openly done.

The current Star Wars content no longer makes me feel good about life. It's full of mean and self-centered people, it's full of hateful and cynical propaganda, and it makes me really depressed. Star Wars, as silly as it may sound, used to be a force for good in the world. Now it's just schlock. The protagonists went from Rebels who were fighting an oversized Empire, to para-military forces defending an evil Empire and crushing any opposing force. When you actually look at what's going on with the "Resistance" and the "First Order" it's clearly a justification of government funded groups like the CIA who operate outside the control or influence of the public to crush enemies of the upper class and elites.

But what really makes me sad are the people lapping this shit up. Those who say that if you criticize the Sequels you're no different than those who criticized the Prequels. It is through this portion of the fanbase that Disney is granted legitimacy. We need an unanimous rejection of this subversive modern Lucasfilm which is sick she'll of its former shelf. Star Wars is currently being made by hateful people, and it tears me up inside.

Every time I see an ad or some fucker online that reminds me. And that's almost every fucking day. Seeing faggots upon faggots praising TLJ as the greatest cinematic achievement ever or praising Abrams as the man who will save Star Wars.

I'm very pessimistic about how people are going to react to Jay Jay's next abomination. I honestly think The Farce Awakens was worse than the Last Jedi, they're both awful, but The Last Jedi wouldn't exist without the awful storytelling in The Farce Awakens, and TFA was already dismantling the lore and world building.

I feel your pain too anon. I refused to even acknowledge Star Wars existing for the last few years outside of shitting on Disney and talking here, it was too painful to watch them fuck with it. Still is some days, since they're doing the usual tactic of doubling down on defending TLJ until it's the hill they die on. Every time they do this to any series, I have to rewatch the original to remember why I ever liked it to begin with, so maybe you should return to where you started with Star Wars.

I thought about Lucas keeping Star Wars at times, but I keep remembering the interviews Lucas has given over the last few years, what he did with the release of Red Tails, and I realize it would've gone down a similar path if he kept it. All modern media is creatively sterile, on top of being politicized. The best you can hope for is IX failing and Disney quietly sweeping Star Wars under the rug for a bit until they reboot the OT, since they'll never completely leave it alone.

As for Star Wars itself, you can either work to preserve the Lucas era with Baobab, make individual efforts by collecting physical copies, contributing to 200ABY, or even making your own version of Star Wars. It had to die at some point, everything does, but you can create something out of it to replace what you lost. It's better than sitting there every day watching NPCs suck alien titty milk from their overlords.

I'm touched.

Seriously though, anon, you have plenty you can do. Our only enemies here are those who try to suppress what Star Wars was and advertise the disaster it is now.

>TFA

TFA was garbage that broke Star-Wars completely and the general audience became aware of this fact a little bit after release (normal people noticed it right away). If you recall TFA’s defenders used to throw around the argument that the first film was meant to be a safe “omage” to establish the nu-trilogy and the next film TLJ would answer questions and ultimately redeem TFA. Disgusting, most of them have to be paid shills or retarded. Perhaps both since the defenders seem want “reylo” to happen.

<praising Soy-wars

Well disney/abrams have nowhere to go with soy wars given the events of the last 2 movies. They decided to pick abrams to finish the trilogy, which is a bad considering that abrams is incapable of creating anything new. He is only capable of poorly ripping off the original movies, ruining the established canon, and story. Lastly abrams is not a closer, as a result his “mystery boxes” will inevitably make the last movie degenerate by its “conclusion” into a resolution-less mess that no one will like

(in b4 they are on earth somehow). On top of all this Disney needs to pander/steal and rip off more scenes and elements from the OT/PT because of the nu-trilogy’s horrible story/plot, horrible characters no one likes, lack of compelling villains, and the general dislike of TLJ. Therefore the last film will dump as many elements into creating another putrid plot and cannon killing mess that will only highlight abram’s ineptitude as a director & of course highlight the lack of talent in the diversity hire soy wars story group.

I expect to see Luke back from the dead, Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, Darth Maul, General Grievous, some nu- eu stronk womyn characters, Obi-wan, Grand Moff Tarkin (CGI), Yoda, real Lando, Pando, Soylo, Jyn Orso, Snoke, the feminist robot from soylo, nu-B wings, some mangled real-EU content, time travel, a 4th Death-Star, forest planet, Ewoks, & the side profiles of black women’s heads during scene transitions (as seen in all other Disney films).

Personally I cannot wait for its release, I will not see the movie, but I will consume the resulting salt piles from pissed off shills and media outlets.

Anybody read the Ennis "Preacher" series?

My whole life Luke was for me what John Wayne was for Jessie. I REALLY fucking tried the day I went to the theater for TLJ to have zero expectations, to take whatever it was going to be for what it was & not whatever I wanted, to get whatever enjoyment I was going to be able to out of seeing Mark as Grand Master Skywalker. I did not want to walk out angry & asspained like the nerdiest of comic book guys.

I left feeling fucking numb. For a fucking year I've been trying to get that piece of my core back. Rereading all the best EU shit. It's all just a bandaid.

I mean, my life was pretty much shit before that, but losing such a massive support beam in your mental house is going to fucking start collapsing floors.

Every time I discussed TFA with somebody they always retreated to the same argument, as if they had been programmed or something: "TFA was exactly what it needed to be. It played it safe. It was a soft reboot that reintroduced people to Star Wars." I could explain to them in detail why the movie was horrible but they would just repeat some variation of those statements until the conversation ended. It was like the NPC meme came to life right in front of me.

Also it's "homage", not "omage"

>>26588

I watched the movies a lot when I was growing up. Luke's character served as a very powerful role model for my younger self - he had a lot of very positive traits that even as a kid I always sought to replicate. I don't really care so much specifically that Disney ruined the character of Luke (I mean they killed virtually everything else good about SW too), but what really gets me is seeing Mark struggle with what's happened to his character and the franchise. Before TLJ he hadn't played Luke on-screen for something like thirty years, but from the comments and interviews he's given, he had obviously still been thinking deeply about the character and what happened to him after the events of RotJ. It also very clearly disturbs him the way Disney is handling everything. It's sad to me that even though he finally got a chance to reprise his role as Luke Skywalker after all this time, it's being manufactured by politically-correct committees in the employ of a soulless multinational conglomerate that has no respect for what came before. I hope he knows that the true fans that love the original trilogy still appreciate both the films and his contribution to them, and that Disney hasn't ruined either Luke or Star Wars for us.

It's been a while since I tried talking Star Wars with Disneycattle, but they've yet to give me a proper rebuttal to this: If I wanted a half-assed reboot of ANH, I would just go watch ANH and get the real deal.

The reply I usually get from "Why not just watch ANH then?" is usually something along the lines of "Most people don't rewatch the films every year, they needed to be re-introduced to the franchise, and this was the best way to do it." I've given up hope of changing people's minds regarding TFA on my own.

Hilariously, over the past few years I've gradually seen more content from YouTube streamers arguing that TFA was bad, and suddenly now people are more open to the concept that JJ and Disney fucked it up. I now honestly believe that most people lack any critical thinking capability and will only regurgitate arguments they hear from people they respect on the internet or television.

Yep, that's the world we live in. Foaming at the mouth whenever the prequels are mentioned turned into a major aspect of pop culture, all because Simon Pegg gave a shoutout to some untalented fucks pretending to be reviewers.

I think it is based on public perception meaning if they see enough people saying something sucks they will change their opinion based on the perceived consensus.

This is why we can't let Disney win. They're destroying our culture, they're destroying our role models, and there needs to be consequences for their actions.

Man, it's been so fucking hard seeing the effect this all's had on him. He was obviously wary of what they might do & tried to put some stopgaps in against those before he signed. Everyone, Rian especially, just fucking gladhanded & conned him the whole way. Those bits in that TLJ BTS doc where Rian's treating him like a fucking kid while telling him the title, and him breaking the fuck down while filming the react to his academy burning had me seething. He knew it was a mistake & told them all in every way he could constantly & was roundly ignored & manipulated into thinking HE was the one who was out of touch with it all.

When it inevitably went south like he'd been saying it would, they blatantly pressured him into largely shutting his mouth & falling in line, then dropped him like a bad fucking habit. Now it's like they're purposely refusing to do anything further with him beyond whatever tiny cameo they'll throw him in 9 for, while digging through all their outtakes for every bit of Carrie they can repurpose for a much more significant role with Leia. Refusing to even do a damn cartoon of Luke with him as a renowned voice actor.

That he'll likely die with neither him nor any of us getting anything remotely resembling what any of us wanted is so god damn infuriatingly retarded.

Slightly off topic but I had a rather enlightening experience with this during the Kavanaugh thing. I have a couple of decent friends who are pretty far left, though not full blown "die cis scum" retards.

I watched the whole thing live, while none of them did, yet they ran their mouths as if they had, regurgitating every far left newsrag & late night talk show talking point there was with complete conviction it was 100% accurate.

Don't have too many "far left" myself, but I did see that to a lesser degree with my left-leaning classmates. It's interesting, and a little disheartening, just how total the hivemind is. Who needs the Borg when you've got Facebook?
